Well, congrats to the Texas Rangers. Now some thoughts... - Yankees miss clutch hitting of Damon and Matsui. - Yankees don't let pitchers break a sweat. Take a couple of pitches! - Jeter = automatic gound ball, A-Rod is Mr. oKtober. - Why Robertson? How 'bout CC? Joba? Even AJ? - Bullpen back to sucking. - The Michael Kay kiss of death: after the comeback in game 1, he declared the series over on the YES Postgame show. I cringed when he said that. They made Colby Lewis look like Sandy Koufax. YES just cut away when Girardi was asked about his contract status. #28 will have to wait.
Not to be Debbie Downer, but what if Tejas wins the WS? Do you think that might have an effect on Lee after this?
Seriously doubt it. In fact I'd think it would have a better chance of having the opposite effect on Lee than the one I think you're alluding to. If Lee wins the WS with the Rangers, he has his ring, so why not take the most money? He's a hero in Texas and for coming to NY, and he's making bank. Win-win. You'd have to be a fool to pass up on big $$$ in this business for some fake allegiance, or something. And it's not like he'd be hurting his chances to win another by joining the NYY.
Is Girardi really going to be the scapegoat this time around? The team did jackshit in all phases of the game.
Yanks Payroll: $40,000,000 more than any other team in baseball Payroll vs. Rangers: over $150,000,000 more
except it wouldn't be fake allegiance if he took less money to stay in Texas, that would actually be allegiance, thus he inherently can't be a fool if he stays in Texas for less money by your own criteria.
So, do they let Girardi go now? He has morphed into Torre's clone over the past two years and hist contract is up. I just don't know who else they would hire.
