wow, I thought Cummings did well when he played. I also didn't think the onsides was his fault - I mean, the entire ST line bailed before the ball was kicked. I wonder who we pick up.
Something's up, they are going to sign someone or maybe this opens it up for McKight to play ILB too. I think I am going to make a thread..... McKight to be an Inside Linebacker....
unless Pettine is gonna pump him full of horse steroids...i don't want Merriman anywhere near this roster.
Boy, enjoy the off week Kenwin! Funny but on the onside kick play, Cummings was the only Jet player in the screen. Everyone else left to set up the coverage so I am thinking it was not because of that play in particular. I am also sure the Jets and Tannenbaum have a plan up their sleeve. They usually do.
Another great point by Manish was our lack of depth at ILB, as it stands now Laury is the primary backup. IMO something must be in the works right now, because that is a bit scary.
anybody available on the waiver wire in the mold of an ILB? now that i think of it....Merriman wouldn't make sense...he's a pass-rushing OLB.
How the hell could it be Merriman? The trade deadline passed. They would have to cut him and he would have to clear waivers.
The Chargers have to release him as soon as he's healthy. Just for clarification... I seriously doubt we have any interest in him beyond the Tanny tire-kicking.
I have to repeat this, at the Moment our only ILB backup for both Harris and Scott is Laury. That must be addressed. I realize Rex loves his DB's but that is just ridiculous.
They have to have a backup plan to bring in an ILB I would think, because they could have just cut him right after the game Sunday if this is directly related to the onside kick in Denver, but it's been almost a week. This makes me think they have identified someone to bring in that they believe would serve the team better, I doubt Rex would let them cut his depth on defense without a corresponding move to reinforce it. But yes, if they bring someone in from the outside it's a little more concerning since Cummings knows this defense and would presumably be better served to fill in for someone in the short term.
Tanny didn't just release him without having a plan for backup ILB or if they didn't know exactly who they were bringing onto the roster to replace him. I liked Cummings, and I know Bart Scott gave him rave reviews in minicamps, but I have full confidence in the staff and their decision making. Hopefully Mauga has been really impressing the coaches lately and they are bringing him up to the roster.
hahahaha....I'll take it a step further....by using a Masters of the Universe analogy. Merriman off the juice Merriman on the juice
Bingo. Westerman has played inside for us as well. This very well could point to an OLB being brought in and Westerman shifting inside.
I'm not saying it will be Merriman, but he WILL be released. The Chargers' use of the minor injury designation means they have to release him as soon as he's healthy. I heard SF, Washington, and...one other team, can't remember which...are the most likely destinations for him if he gets a choice. If teams place waiver claims on him, he doesn't have a choice.
Merriman has expressed interest in joining the Phins (fag) or the Ravens....they were talking about this on NFLTA a few days ago.
Man that must suck... these guys are on vacation this week. Imagine being in the Bahamas and getting that call from your agent. Hey Kenwin it's <insert agent's name>, you enjoying Atlantis? Kenwin: Umm yeah Agent: You may wanna stay a few more days Seriously how does this work? If he's out of town do they clean his locker out and Fed Ex his stuff or can he come back and do the walk of shame?
That's right, Baltimore, not Washington. I think Dallas was the other one I heard. I didn't hear Miami. Figures.
We might be talking about 2 different scenarios here.....you're talking about possible teams putting in waiver claims for Merriman....I was referring to Merriman's destinations of his choosing. My bad.
