Espn After an early-afternoon team meeting, the New York Jets began a six-day vacation for the bye week. There is no practice until Monday, which means the players have a lot of free time on their hands. ___________________________________________________________________ I still think there is a lot of work to do for this team to reach their full potential. Do you think its wise for Ryan to not utilize the bye productively?
Yes. Let 'em rest like most teams do on their bye week. They'll come back to the facility on Tuesday (?) with clear heads and fresh bodies and be ready to work. I love the placement of the bye this year. And we get to comeback against a really beat up team - in the Meadowlands.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just saying that last year we lost 2 games in a row after the Bye Week. (Jacksonville and New England)
It will probably be more productive to give them a week to chill out and then come back ready to work their asses off then it would be to keep them on the daily grind.
That's fine. I'd bet that half the players don't take all six days, they'll be hanging around, doing light workouts and looking at film. It's a long season, time to get recharged.
Sanchez said in his post game that he was going home but changed his mind and would be working on some things. That was refreshing.
Rex's practices aren't as long as most teams, but they work hard when they practice. He's stated he chooses quality over quantity, and obviously thinks that this will bring out the best in them coming off the bye.
Revis will also mostly be at the facility as well continuing his rehab. I didn't hear that about Mark, that's good news. He's really dedicated, which is great.
I agree...the players that know they need work will stay...I imagine the ones with kids will take most of the week. Cromartie needs a 3 week bye. lol j/k I read somewhere Revis intends to get treatment every day...so he'll be around. I just hope they are all smart about what they do. I don't bemoan a man his time off...as long as it's productive and/or un-eventful.
Rex's training camp and practices are pretty tough. Those guys deserve a very well needed rest. That what most teams do during the bye week.
Heard Schotty on Inside the Jets show last night and he said the coaches do a full scouting plan for each other this week as if they were playing our offense vs. our defense / vice versa. Started it last year. Fuckin cool idea.
They did their job, they are 5-1 heading into the bye week. We are leading the league in wins at this point. Let them rest for the break, they deserve it. They know the seasons not over and we are still on a mission. Let the batteries recharge. We have a very favorable schedule with the next 3 games coming up.
No question this is the right move. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. Can't underestimate how important rest & recovery is to athletes competing at an elite level.
I'm a bit concerned that this comes at a bad time for #24's recovery. He was almost at the point where his legs were really under him. I hope this doesn't set him back in that department~~~
They earned a rest, though there is plenty of work to be done, it will be much easier if everyone is well rested
I forgot where I heard it so I cant provide a link but I did hear that he was going to be staying and rehabbing for most of the time. So thats good news.
