Never bet against your team... even if you think they are going to lose. And in our pool, if you do, expect to be berated.
 yes, I'd rather lose the money than the game also, but this way you get free cash to drown your suffering for the loss. :drunk: (yay! the avatar is back!)
You can bet against the Jets and still hope they win, just not by a lot of points if you think the spread is too high.
Maybe if the Jets were like 20 point favorites or something, and you could win the bet and the Jets win.. But realistically, no.. betting against the Jets in a normal game is ridiculous.
If it's a huge spread then it's not bad. But personally I never bet against my team. Rather leave it alone that week if I don't like the line
I picked the hedge option. The reason for this is that I always ask myself "how much money would I pay for a Jets win?" Therefore, if the Jets win I don't mind losing the money. If the jets lose, then I have beer money for the week to drink my sorrows away. I told my wife a couple weeks ago that I would gladly pay 5k for a guaranteed Jets Superbowl win. She thinks I'm nuts.
Love and business do not go together. If you love the Jets, it doesn't mean you can't bet against them.
Maybe not if you were only betting against the spread. Not sure I have ever seen the Jets favored by that much though.
I have no allegiances when it comes to gambling. I've bet against the Jets in three games this year (Ravens, Patriots, and Broncos). It's not personal.
