well with the mets stilll looking to hire a GM and then a Manager, there are other questions to be asked about the 2011 New York Mets. Pitching is key to winning at CitiField and with Johan on the shelf the mets need to explore other options. the royals are listening to all offers for Zach Greinke http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/39698631/ns/sports-player_news/ is this a possiblity? what would it take? what are other trades and signings the Mets should be exploring?
First off, I want Bobby V back for manager. I want Sandy Alderson in a VP type of position, with a guy like Hahn working under him and taking over for him in a few years.
Something is up with Bobby V.. 2nd team in 2 weeks to tell him he is longer in the running.. (Marlins, Mariners).. What's up with his demands? Will he take a discount to come to NY? If not.. He ain't going to Pittsburgh, but maybe the Cubs?
As far as Greinke goes....good pitcher but I think he folds under the NY pressure. I'd stay away. In all honesty, they need to just cut the bull and hire Alderson. I do not want Hahn, White, Daniels. Alderson is old school and knows how to build a winner without going all in. Look at his track record. Also, this is kind of more opinion then anything but with the MLBPA having such a heavy hand in getting their way representing the players, I think if the Mets hire Alderson, at the end of the day we win the K-Rod battle. Maybe not completely, but we do win it. Keep in mind Alderson is Selig's BFF, you don't think he'll have his boy's back to some extent? This off season, my dream would be to get Crawford. Realistically, that won't happen but holy shit is this guy built for Citi. If we do get the right people in here, next off season could get interesting with a ton of money coming off the books.
I agree with Crawford. He would be perfect for Citifield. Any teams that would be interested in Beltran? My only guess is the Giants or the Red Sox.
We fucked ourselves in the ass a bit in the Crawford sweepstakes when we signed Bay last year. Unless as stated above, we're thinking about unloading Beltran somewhere this offseason (assuming someone would wanna take his contract on at this age and point in his career), while going with Crawford and Bay at the COF spots and Pagan in center.
Minaya crapped the bed. The writing was on the wall that failure this season and he was done so he went after Bay and overpaid. Can't blame him though in some sort...while I found Bay overrated I didn't think he'd be this helpless.
I like Alderson. He's going to hire good young guys, and he'll probably be more of a build an organization type. We need someone who intimidates Jeff Wilpon and makes him irrelevant. I don't think that's Byrnes. I'm happy with either, I just want Jeff's influence to wane considerably, and I think Alderson's a better bet if that's the focus. -X-
I don't think we should go after Crawford or Lee or anybody like that. This team isn't going to win any time soon, and I think we have to let the shitty contracts expire and pick our spots carefully until then.
Good now I don't need to get those stupid emails from the Wilpon's updating me on their search. Dicks.
At least this guy has been a good GM previously which gives me some hope. We need a good Manager , release the purse strings a bit more and we ain't that far away. Can someone in NY please run Beltran over...
I honestly think we should listen to trade offers for Reyes ( if any arise) that allow us to add a starting pitcher and a prospect. I may be over estimating Reyes worth but for me we have to do something to energise the franchise and if the fuckpons won't ante up then we need to juggle the roster a bit. I would rather hang Reyes out for the right offer than give up on Wright.
We could just keep scrub players and rehire bobby V. He got the best out of some pretty shitty teams.
