So far so good....looking at the standings gives me a boner. Next 4 games....Denver, Packers (banged up), Browns, Lions i really can't believe we're 4-1 right now. when was the last time the jets started off the season 4-1 or better? Pats and Ravens play each other next week. So one of those teams will have 2 losses. If we can win against Denver, we'll be set up real nice either in the division or conference depending on the outcome. I know it's early, but can you not be excited given the stretch we had to go through and injuries/suspensions we had to deal with to get to 4-1? This denver game is critical. going into the bye with that momentum would be huge
Everyone seems to forget about this. After the game my dad texted me something about this being the best start since the 80's.
The big thing was winning the division games. Of course, beating the Vikings is nice. Denver could be tough with Revis out again, Orton is quietly having an awesome season statistically.
It actually was their best start ever. 2004 is a very vivid memory for me. My 3rd favorite season as a fan - 2009 & 1998 are 1st and 2nd respectively (obvious). The Jets are also the only team to play 3 consecutive OT games. Its was 2004 that this happened. Rams - L - sat starters after Buffalo win over Pats or something. SD - Win Doug Brien HERO! Pitt - L Doug Brien GOAT!
No, he's thinking of the 5-0 start in 2004. In 2000 we started 6-1, finished 9-7, out of the playoffs. Also the last time we started 3-0 in the division, but it was a 5-team division then. In 1986 we started 10-1, finished 10-6, hosted the Wild Card game, won that, lost the next round. A lot of guys got hurt leading to the collapse at the end. Still, had Miami just won the last game of the year vs New England (last ever at the Orange Bowl) we'd have won the division.
