Agreed. Whomever Revis is covering, I would send the WR on deep patterns for at least a full quarter to see if he's 100%. Hopefully, the hammy will be up to the task. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
Well he said he wouldn't play unless he's 100%. He's playing today so I'm assuming he's 100%. No excuses Beavis, shut Moss down.
I can't for sure that that the reason he pulled it is because he missed camp, but in all fairness you can't say thats the reason he did. plenty of players who didn't miss camp have puled a hammy and missed time aaron roos run DMC Daren McFadden Ricky Brown Robert Gallery Walter McFadden Richard Seymour Chicago Bears starting left tackle Chris Williams and rookie backup free safety Major Wright left Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys with hamstring injuries. knowshon moreno and thats just some of them this year alone hamstrings are tricky things and i don't believe its because he missed camp, how ever i won't deny that its possible it played a part in the injury. he clearly wasn't out of shape as he played the entire ravens game and the whole pats game until he pulled the hammy and up until that play had only allowed like 2 short catches all season
I agree he should be quiet, but when you say "he was beaten like a drum" I would like to know what your definition of that is exactly because Revis gave up 2 passes for a total of 38yds & TD-the latter after stupendous catch. On the TD pass there was absolutely no pressure on Brady, he had like 5 seconds to throw the ball, he just stood there flat footed waiting for someone to get open. You can't allow any NFL QB that amount of time especially a future HOF'r.
As I said earlier, when you're a cornerback all it might take is one big play and you've had a bad day. The fact that Moss made a great catch doesn't in any way change that he had at least a 2 or 3 yard lead on Revis when the ball got there. I call that being beaten like a drum.
Yup. There's literally no way to know whether or not Revis would've hurt his hamstring if he had been there for training camp, so declaring it as a certainty because other players who missed camp have gotten hurt in the past is a pretty faulty argument. As for the question of Revis getting "beaten like a drum," I think that most teams would be very happy with their starter giving up only one big play to Randy Moss in single coverage. Our expectations for #24 may have gotten a little out of hand.
Adam_Schefter: Look for Jets CB Antonio Cromartie, not Darrelle Revis, to cover Vikings WR Randy Moss, and for Revis to cover WR Percy Harvin. [via Twitter]
The expectations have nothing to do with a player covering Moss perfectly one on one. They have to do with a player keeping his mouth shut criticizing the guy who beat you for a long touchdown, and got you injured on the play to boot when you were trying to keep up with him. In my opinion it makes him look like a jackass. I don't see anyone claiming that it is a certainty that his holdout caused his injury, but if people only came to conclusions on the basis of incontrovertible proof no one would be coming to very many conclusions. It is reasonable to think that missing training camp might have increased the chances of this kind of injury, and that being the case, the fact that he then got injured reflects badly on him. A student who fails a test after not studying for it might have failed it anyway, but not studying increased the chances of that happening, and as a result they don't get any sympathy from me.
Revis got his ass handed to him tonight again. Dude's sucked this year. This better be because of his injury rather than him deciding to play like ass since he got paid.
Hate to say this but Revis sucked tonight. I would have rather let him set another week. We really lucked out with Farve being so inaccurate when Harvin was wide open a couple of times.
Agreed. Hope the hype hasn't gone to his head. All this smack talking and the hold out. Although he isn't necessarily playing bad...for all the hoopla this guy has caused, he should be playing lights out.
i didn't see the whole game. did revis appear healthy? if so, we can consider this game something to grow on, at least.
Revis allowed 0 catches through the first 3 quarters. ...then he got worn down and Favre came up with some magic. I don't expect him to be Revis Christ until week 10-12. Until then he can just be a top 10 corner. He's played 2.5 games this year, he'll be back.
