I don't want to create a panic here or anything, but I just got off the phone with Ticketmaster and was told the "Jets website went down and lost all the bar-code scanning numbers" for the tickets for the rest of the season and "they are going to have to be reissued." I just got off the phone with them to resolve an issue I am having with my Parking Passes. As you know, the Parking Passes on your ticketmaster account have cockamamie numbers like ORGA41, Row 34 on them, which have no relationship to the actual numbers printed anywhere on your hard-copy Parking Passes. My dilemma is, I can't differentiate the two sets of Parking Passes I have if I want to sell them online electronically on TicketMaster. If I sell one hard copy ticket on StubHub and mail it out, I cannot tell which Pass I sold by looking at my TicketMaster Account... they both have cockamamie numbers like ORGA345, Seat 48, etc. So if I go to sell the other set electronically, I don't want to sell the "wrong" set or it will screw up both parties if they are croseed. So anyway, while I'm talking to the rep, she couldn't give me an answer as to how to tell them apart. So she checks with her supervisor, and was told the Jets Site went down and with it, ALL THE FREAKING BAR CODES! I said, "ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?" and she said "yes, I'm 100% positive... and now we have this huge problem with all the e-ticket bar codes that we've sold to the games so far. THey all have to be reissued." So I'm like, "Well, I guess you can't help me with my problem on the PArking Passes today and she says, "No way. You'll have to call back next week." IF this is so, and is as serious as it sounds, that means that anyone (including guys that bought Minny tickets) who bought online and printed out the tickets with bar codes on them... these tickets are FREAKING WORTHLESS because theJets have no way to know if they are good or not. I sincerely hope thi is not the case, but they have some serious making up to do if this is the case... emails up the ass... links to the website to get the tickets reprinted, etc. She said it's ahuge problem and they are going to have to fix it "on a game-by-game basis." I hope this is not so, but good luck to anyone who has purchased online, bar-coded tickets off of NFL TicketMaster.
P/S: The girl on the phone told me that the sellers will not be affected...only the buyers. "You as a seller will not know the difference," she told me, "but the buyers will have to get new bar codes issued." Isn't this just typical? Is there ANYTHING ELSE the Jets can do to screw up their "GameDay Experience?" You just can't make this shit up.
She was blaming the Jets Website. She said the website "went down and lost all the bar codes." This could be her deflecting the blame from TicketBastards onto the Jets, but I'm assuming if it was TicketBastards that screwed up, it wouldn't be just the Jets tickets, it'd be the entire NFL. So it sounds logical that it's the Jets Website's fault and not TicketBastards.
I bought tickets the other night off stubhub that were etickets, does this mean they are now worthless???
This conversation I had this afternoon was with TICKETMASTER, not StubHub, so I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're probably okay. I'm assuming StubHub issues their own bar codes. On the other hand, if the NY Jets' computer is the thing that has to recognize the bar code when it's scanned, who the hell knows what it is going to acknowledge if it has "gone down" and "lost" the bar codes? In either case, according to this girl, if your bar codes are a problem, you will probably be notified by email... and they will have to correct them and issue new bar codes, according to this rep from TicketBastards. I'm just relaying what she told me... nothing more. Any other speculation by me or anyone else is just that for right now... speculation.
And hey... who knows? If they get this thing fixed somehow and "recall" the bar codes back out of the system through some sort of "Restore Point" in their computers, no one will ever know or be the wiser. I can't believe a large organization like the Jets would not have redundant, restore-point backup for things as freaking critical as bar codes on tickets. Then again, TicketBastards can't even get a simple issue resolved with keeping two sets of Parking Passes straight (because the Jets have them coded on their "My Account" with cockamamie, fucked up IDs), so I suppose anything's possible.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to have to contact the guy I bought them from and see if hes been contacted about it.
You've gotta be kidding me!!! I just sold my Parking Pass for the Minny game this morning on eBay. Fortunately, I haven't e-mailed the PP yet, but if this is gonna be a problem, I would hate to fuck my buyer over. I may have to mail it to him/her or do a local drop off. FUCK!!!
I can't imagine any corporation operating in the 21st century that didn't backup their vital data daily if not perpetually.
Neither can I. Just passing along my conversation with TicketMaster this afternoon, for what it's worth. For all we know, it is fixed already. She said it only involved Jets e-tickets, not the hard copies, and no other team, just the Jets. "For what it's worth..."
Just called Stub Hub and they are not aware of problem. The tix I downloaded are Ticket Master issued. If you order them thru Stub Hub you have the Fan Protect Program remember.
Well, again, I have the same situation because I sold one of my two sets of 4 tickets to the Minny game just this morning off of my TicketBastards "My Account." When I mentioned this, she said that the SELLER WILL NOT BE AFFECTED and that they may have to reissue new bar codes to the BUYER. "The seller is never going to notice a thing and you'll get paid," is what she told me. In other words, if you are the seller, no action is required on your part.
Stub Hub just called me back and are reissuing my tix. This is not a drill. Check your tickets. Ya think there are going be some pissed off people at the gates Mon Nite?
I was just on the Jets website and I was able to bring up my Parking Passes easily with no problem and it brought me to the forward screen. I'm not doubting this happened, but I'd really like be sure something really is wrong, otherwise, I may have to hand deliver this fucking parking pass.
I just called the New York Jets...Ticket & Stadium # 1-800-NYJ-JETS...and they told me their systems are fine. There was a problem with some people who didn't pay for their tickets, so their bar codes were turned off, but outside of that, nothing out of the ordinary. Now I'm wondering if Ticketmaster is fucking these forwards up. Shit. I may have to overnight these piece of shit ticket or hand deliver it just to avoid fucking over my buyer.
I literally just bought two tickets off Stubhub 5 minutes ago to the Texans game. I know they have the guarantee thingie, but I hope I don't have to go that route. Anyone think its worth calling Stubhub to make sure I don't need a new bar code? I guess I'll just sit tight since the game isn't for a while. Hope no one get f'd over Monday.
Well this sucks. I've pretty much sold tickets to every game at this point since I bought two pairs of seats. Not sure what to do about my StubHub sales..
If this is as big of an issue as it sounds, you'd think the Jets or Ticketmaster would release an official statement, no?
