The way I've always looked at it is, rooting for the yankees is my break from rooting for the Jets and Knicks. However, the truth of the matter is that the Jets have more or less been a winning team since 1997, while the Knicks have been asleep since 2001.

This is BY FAR the best sports time of my life so far.

The Yankees are World Champs, the Jets look great coming off an AFC title game, and the Capitals coming off a President's trophy also look great. I couldn't be happier.

I am Jets/Yanks but I'm really just a casual baseball fan. I follow and root for the Yankees but I live and die by the Jets.

As an example, in 2001 on the night that Arizona beat the Yanks on Gonzalez's walk off blooper, I cared much more about the Jets beating the Saints than the Yankees losing the WS. BTW - that was the Damien Robinson/Kyle Turley helmet throwing game!!

Perfectly stated. I love being a Jets/Yankees fan; have been my entire life. This moment in time, it's awesome to have your two teams playing well.

My father is the Jets/Mets fan. I don't know what made me stick with the Jets, but go against him with the Yankees. Either way, I like the routes I've taken.

First games I ever saw in person. Yanks in 75 and Jets in 76. Both at Shea.

Once the Jets moved to the Meadowlands, the Mets/Jets bond was really stretched.

Sorry, But being a Yankee/Jets fan is just plain wrong.

    That's just a closet Red Sox/Jets fan.

    Shameful

Loyal fandom is a function, partly, of when you started liking the sport.

For me, started loving baseball in the late 1970s (Yankees great). I started to love football in the early 1980s, when the Jets were much better than the Giants. So that's where my allegiance comes from. Made it tough to be a Jets/Yanks fan in mid 1980s when the Mets and Giants were winning championships. The 1986 World Series had to be the toughest ever to watch, even more so than the 2008 Super Bowl. In retrospect, I think it was better that the Red Sox lost to the Mets, but it never sat well.

Being a Yankees fan has always made it more tolerable to be a Jets fan for sure, but when the Jets win their next Super Bowl, my life will be complete.

Yeah, the Yanks have been carrying the torch for all these years, time for the jets to do their part. This is the best time of the year if you are a Football and Yankee fan. Gotta keep it going

When I started watching both teams it was the Jets picking up the Yanks. I never saw the Yanks in the playoffs intil 1995.

I agree totally. I know a lot of former Giants fans who have jumped on the Jets bandwagon over the past two years; I've yet to meet a Mets fan who has crossed over to the Yankees.

WTF are you talking about? They are two completely different sports. People get this idea that you're supposed to be a Mets fan if you're a Jets fan just because the Jets played at Shea. When I was growing up, we were all Yankees fans since most of my family came from the Bronx, and most of them didn't care much for football but liked the Jets. The Jets/Mets dynamic gets most of the press because of Queens and Long Island. That's basically it. It's not black or white anymore.

The Giants/Mets dynamic is mostly seen in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The old guard New York Baseball Giants and football Giants were tight knit, and when the Giants moved to SF the last thing any of their fans in NY would do is root for the hated Yanks, so they eventually became Mets fans, along with Brooklyn Dodger fans.
