Fuck, we should cheer him! Without Favre we might still have Chad, and we might not have gotten Sanchez or Rex. Who knows what would've happened had he not come here. Could you imagine us getting ready for Monday night with Chad starting, and Mangini or some other dick coaching? It was destiny for all these events to lineup the way they did. We needed Rex, the fans needed Rex to change the culture, and Sanchez is the perfect QB for us now. So, Thank you Mr. Favre aka, CockSlinger.
He'll get booed. They didn't go to the playoffs. If you bought his jersey. Hold on to it. When he retires, everyone will remember the good stuff, and you have the jersey of a HOFer. Patience.
ahh sux to be u u should keep it tho it might become sum kind of collectible sum day and you could make sum money off it
The only thing Favre did for the Jets was suck so much that it forced a sea change - new coach, new system, new QB, etc. These were unintended consequences. Bringing him here was still a major mistake and he is still the most selfish self centered player in the NFL. I hope he plays like he played for the Jets - be a statue in the pocket and throw up 2-3 hand grenade picks and then run off the field at the end of the game without shaking hands. Needless to say - I will boo him.
Will Sterger be at the game? (Favre tried to sidestep this during a press conference the other day by talking about the Jets team itself) On another note, anyone see how he was trying to proclaim that the Jets were after him to come back even before they had Sanchez? The guy really has some mental issues with needing the spotlight and constant praise and attention. Of course the team kept tabs on him in case they couldn't draft a QB, but Rex and the team never pressed for him. They just kept the line open until they drafted Sanchez. Favre is one of the best QB's in NFL history, but after his father passed (this was brought up as a key moment in terms of his personality shifting) his personality just went downhill and he became a me person. I can't remember which former Packers defensive back stated this I believe it was LeRoy Butler, but he stated along the lines Favre's father helped keep him in check and after he passed there was no one to keep him grounded.
This. We managed to create what we have today for a measley 3rd round pick that we spent of Favre. I love that fact. Everyone said it at the beggining of the 08 season, "It may not end well, but its going to be one hell of ride!" Thats exactly what we got, some of the best midseason football I have ever seen out of a Jets team, only to fall apart down the stretch just as it seems we always have. SOJ rained supreme, and out of it, we were given the duo we have today and that is directly resulatant of Favre. That alone should get him tons of cheers. Instead Jets fans will not remember the fun we had in the middle of that year, and they will only remember the disasterous finish, been through tons of them, why hate this one any more? In my opinion this finish should be praised! So they will boo favre off the field instead of celebrating all the good he has given us. If we win a super bowl this year, it is a direct result of Favre being brought here.
I am so tired of hearing about Brett Favre. Tired of hearing we would of went after him for year 2, that he would of considered playing here etc. I do not want to turn on football shows this weekend and have to hear about Favre coming to play the Jets. I will be boo as loud as I can and as long as I can.
I completely agree. Favre coming here was great for the franchise. He gave the FO cover to get rid of Chad, which was the single most important move the franchise had to make to move forward from the flashes of success in a general sea of mediocrity to real success. If he had not completed a single pass and had retired after three games I would still have been thankful. His coming also had the net effect of getting rid of Mangini, for the benefit of all of us. That was the second biggest thing the franchise had to do in order to improve. People forget he was playing quite well until he had that muscle injury in his chest, too. Even so the collapse to end the season was hardly all his fault. Many are angry that he left to go to the Vikes. I don't begrudge him that he wanted to play for them. The Jets knew it going in, and agreed to take one year for a third round pick. Given all the benefits that resulted, replacing Mangini with Ryan, Chad with Sanchez, Favre coming to the Jets was the best thing that happened in a long long time. Now I know the answer is that he didn't come with the intent of helping out in the manner he did. Doesn't matter. The benefits should outweigh whatever anger people had that he wanted to play for the Vikes. That quite frankly does not anger me. We're better off with Sanchez at this point. I suppose the Jets might well have gone to the SB last year if Favre had stayed on the team and played as well as he did last year for the Vikes. Oh well. That didn't happen. The fans should mildly applaud Favre. No standing O - Im not crazy. But boo? That's just going to sound classless.
They should replay his inspirational speech prior to his last game with us on the video screens before he is comes on the field.
The favre move worked out in the end but not intentionally. B/c he was so bad and cost us a division title it led us to firing Mangini, hiring Rex and drafting Sanchez.
I liked watching Favre play that one year he was a Jet, and I know the benefit his replacing Pennington had for the long run. But if I was in the stadium on Monday night, I'd be booing his ass off. He used the Jets as much as they used him. No applause for that guy is necessary.
I still see plenty of Favre Jets jerseys being worn during games, so I don't know how much he'll get booed. I think the reaction will be mixed.
You had to know buying it, that he would be gone in no less than 2 years. Obviously not a quality purchase Poe.
