When Pavano struck out someone Miller put everything behind the call...you could hear his turkey gizzard neck flapping with the call..."and heeee swuckkkk himmm out...strikeee shreeeee" Then Pettitte had a strike out and the double play to Jeter and Miller delivered it nonchalantly. Same thing with the TBS guys...you could tell they were like "not the Yankees again..."

Yeh, in game one the contrast between the excitement in the play-by-play caller's voice for Cuddyer's home run and the Yanks 6th inning rally was just absurdly huge. The Yankees beating the Twins is not exciting or dramatic (for non-Yankee fans anyway). It's expected. These announcers just want drama and a feel-good story.

You can sense how much Ron Darling and John Smoltz hate it that the Yankees keep winning. You have to feel for the Twinkies though that they so far have been struggling so much in the playoffs because they keep facing the Yankees.
Tonight was a fluke. Those two (out of three) sub-par starts after coming off the DL were ample evidence that Pettitte had obviously completely lost the ability to pitch at a major league level.

For the record, I don't find the announcing to be biased at all--I think it's generally bland, and when applicable they give deference to the homefield crowd (like most announcers do.) The only national announcer that I think is actually biased against the Yankees is Joe Morgan, but he's an idiot so fuck him.

Joe Morgan, if anyone, is the guy. But even with him, I think he hated the Yankee dynasty because of all the comparisons to the big red machine. I think Ron Darling is very good. His voice is boring but I htink hes very objective and informative. When hes on WFAN for a spot hes always good too. Ernie JOhnson is embarrassing himself.
