Peter King is currently in the mourning phase for the Patriots dynasty. He can't look at the Jets as the best team in the AFC, because that means that the other things that he sees, which mostly suggest the Pats dynasty is dying slowly, are probably true. He'll spend some time thrashing around, buoyed by things like the Pats dominant win last night, and if the Jets keep going he'll eventually come to terms and recognise them as the best team in the NFL this year. He keeps promoting the Ravens hard because it's a very reasonable choice and it prevents him from having to dwell on the Jets too much as they appear to be gearing up for takeoff. Think how long it took us to accept the Pats as the truly best team in the AFC. They won a Super Bowl in 2001 but we didn't fully realize that we were definitely inferior to them until 2003.
That's fucking fantastic, because it truly did take me a LONG time to come to terms with that. My brain just couldn't process it.
Yesterday on P.T.I. Tony Cornheiser and his lacky sidekick both praised the Ravens as by far the best team in the NFL. Do they not realize they beat a Steelers team without their starting QB and bearly squeaked past the Jets. Flacco is way overrated IMO
I'm really hoping the Jets can meet the Ravens in the playoffs because the offense gameplan for week one was trash. However, anyone picking the Ravens>Jets has a legit point because the Ravens did win this season. Steelers are the team which I think Ravens & Jets should be worried about most. Steelers have looked incredibly good & are now getting the QB back.
the AFC is soo powerful right now top 10 power rankings? 1) Pitt 2) Jets 3) Balt 4) GB 5) NO 6) Pats 7) Falcons 8) Indy 9) Hou 10) KC The AFC has alot of legitimate playoff contenders the AFC East and North has 6 legit playoff teams (Jets, NE, Mia in the east and Balt, Pitt, Cincy in the North) plus 2 in the south (indy and Hou) and 2 in the west (SD and KC) there are 10 AFC teams fighting for 6 spots plus 13 of the 16 teams are at least decent. the only 3 really bad teams are the raiders, bills, and browns The NFC is weak. NO and GB are the glass but after them nobody is stepping up. ATL will be the 5 Seed a west and eats team will get in by default but no team in any of those divisions are that good and the 6 seed fight will be boring with maybe the bears taking it. i can see the NFC having 3 teams in the playoffs with 9 wins or less with ATL, GB, and NO being the only 3 that eclipse that number
At least one team and maybe more like two that are playoff caliber will miss in the AFC this year due to numbers. AFC East: Jets, Pats, maybe Fins. AFC North: Steelers, Ravens, maybe Bengals. AFC South: Colts, Texans, maybe Titans AFC West: San Diego, maybe Kansas City. That's 7 teams that are playoff caliber and one of them must miss the playoffs. Throw in the maybes who can make an argument, since one of them is likely to go on a run in the second half and at least get close, and you have two playoff caliber teams sitting in January this year.
in that same article, he says the following about the Jets. "A month into the NFL's regular season, honesty compels me to admit I was utterly wrong about LaDainian Tomlinson's chances for a late-career renaissance with the Jets." "Maybe for once the hype was right." "With a touchdown in a third consecutive game, Braylon Edwards all of a sudden looks like a playmaker again, doesn't he?"
I see four teams that look like locks and a bunch of other teams with talent and gaping holes to fill. The locks are Colts, Ravens, Steelers and Jets.
If the Texans are real and the Titans are the hot late team as they have been several times for Jeff Fisher then Indy is in real trouble right now.
grow up and don't be so insecure. both teams are 3-1 and the Ravens dealt us our 1 loss. yeah, real illogical for someone to actually utilize that criteria as the determining factor between the two teams.
He is a major Ace in the hole. The 111 points they've given up in 4 games means there'd better be an Ace in the flop too.
The "English" police can suck my balls. I missed a word replying too fast, big deal. The Ravens beat us. Head to head on the field. They have the same record, but they beat us at home. Its pretty simple.
Teams have bad games so you can't just say, well the Ravens beat us in week 1, they are the better team. The Pats whooped up on the Bengals, the Bengals beat the Ravens, we beat the Pats, so what can you take from that? Ravens>Jets Patriots>Bengals Bengals>Ravens Jets>Patriots add em up JETS> Ravens, Patriots, Bengals..... right?
It's really not though, to get right down to it it was a piss poor offensive game. Poorly called, too conservative. Any team can win on any given Sunday. Atlanta beat the Saints at home, only because the kicker missed a easy FG. So that means the Falcons are better? St. Louis beat Washington in a bad game played by the Skins, if they played again would you take the Skins? Thinking in it's only that simple terms just means that's the way you think, I guess the word is simpleton. Cleveland beat the Bengals who beat the Ravens so I guess the Browns could be us.
