It's amusing how some people are saying he did some things and others are saying he did nothing at all.

Then I look at who said what and I think "Oh, okay. So Gholston did make his presence felt."

People forget...He's a 3/4 Dline player..I'd have expected him to grab a sack by now...particularly last night, but when he's in he's generally around the ball, and getting some pressure.

You are wrong, sir. He was involved in alot of our big plays late in the game.

If you call doing something in garbage time productive then your level for judging is quite low IMHO

I think it's time to let go of you AAJ...:breakdance:

He did NOT take a pay cut. He restructured his contract based on playing time. The Jets agreed because if he doesn't play well they save money but they Jets are penalized if he doesn't get enough playing time. Win win for both.

So much for your prediction that Gholston would have a "breakout year". Man, were you off on that one.

Gholston right now is an average defensive lineman. It's sad we'd even begin to get excited about his play.

    The bad...:

    1. One would expect that against the Bills, again, the BILLS, OL he would've been able to pull something off.

    2. He was scheduled to be in a rotation with Ellis... now they brought in Pryce to be in a rotation. How many snaps will he play from now going forward?

    3. He has a 2.5 mill roster bonus coming up in March 2011... you guys think he'll see that money? I don't think he justifies it (on top of his salary which isn't low).

    The good...:

    1. Has played better than in his past years, DE is clearly a better position for him.

    2. Learning from Ellis AND Pryce will be invaluable for him.

    3. He looks a liiiiiiiittle more determined to go after the ball.

    4. He is in only his 4th game as a 3-4DE... not trying to give him excuses but it's a fact.

Unless he steadily, and I mean STEADILY, improves I don't see him on this team next year... maaaybe if he completely rips off his contract and agrees to play for around the min (which he could do considering he's still owed some guaranteed money and that he won't get much more somewhere else).

Average is being kind and is an insult to a number of solid D lineman who are average in this league. Gholston is below average, plain and simple. I agree that any excitement about his play is misguided.

I think Alio has 12 more games to go before he has to admit anything. Never know what could happen in that time.

I think Gholston looked alright out there and every time he has filled in for someone, he has done a good job. He certainly isn't flashy but where he's playing, he doesn't need to be.

Fair enough, I'll give him the whole season to have a "break out year".

But honestly, he could play 20 more games and still wouldn't have a break out year.

I wonder if between Pitotitua coming back from a serious injury, Dixon (on the 53 man roster) and Gilbert we have at least 2 starting/backup caliber players for next year.

I really hope we do, we need some youth on our DL.

meh, he had a decent push a few times, but really didn't do much. He will be cut in the offseason. If he's willing to resign for the minimum maybe you keep him around as a rotation guy I guess.

I'm glad you've visited the end of the season already.

Could you tell me who wins the AFC South so I can win some money?

^Do you really still think he's going to have a breakout season? Let's be serious here, he was our 4th best lineman without Pryce here, now he's our 5th. He's barely going to be playing 20 snaps a game.

I could use the extra cash also. But we both know that Gholston will never have the type of impactful, breakout year that you thought he would have this season.

I'm impatient but I'll wait until the first week of January, or hopefully for all us fans, the second week of February for your admission.

If you consider standing there with a uniform "playing" then he did great.

If you want to know if he did anything besides that, the answer is no.
