Huge, huge props to Rex for getting the discipline issue under control, and for doing it as quickly as he did. Only 4 penalties today was great to see. Everyone played with aggressive, but disciplined. Eliminating those mental mistakes takes a team from very good to great. It'll be nicer to see it for a few games in a row, but it's a nice start.

Another thing: we are so lucky to have Mark Sanchez. This guy has made such a huge leap this year. He really has taken control of the offense, and most importantly, he has learned how to take care of the ball. He's plays aggressively, has a very strong arm, and has been making great decisions and throws. How nice to have an actual franchise quarterback.

It helps he has so many weapons around him. The offense if downright scary with Holmes coming back. Keller, Edwards, Holmes, Tomlinson, Cotchery, and Greene? Not a bad selection of weapons to have lying around. It also helps that we have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. They totally dominated today. If the offense can play this way consistently, the defense doesn't have to rank any higher than 15th and we'll be fine. And I still believe the defense will get it back on track and play like they did last season. When they do, nobody will be able to beat us. Nobody.

you arent kidding Tony, what this team is doing offensively is scary. Once the defense clicks (after the injured return possibly?) if the offense can keep it up, how is anyone supposed to beat us?

I was very happy to see us cut down on the penalties. We didn't have to see any promising drives get derailed by dumb mistakes.

any given sunday we can lose but if we play to our potential it wont be easy. If Rex keeps everyone focused we really could go undefeated the rest of the way. But i dont think thats going to happen since we still have packers steelers and @pats left.

It's amazing, the offense should be better when Holmes comes back on Monday.

I was talking specifically about the defense, but it always brings a smile to my face when I see that mentioned!

I just don't see which defense has enough to cover 3 WR all capable of getting a 1st down and more, a TE who is becoming a premiere TE, and a RB who can still do it all.

Yes, the idea is to cut the head off of the monster, Sanchez. But the kid just knows how to limit mistakes, and seems to have gotten rid of the rookie "I have to be a hero" mentality.

I just don't know where it goes wrong... But there will be a game where it goes wrong, because this is football, not SOJ - its a sport which means there will be, collectively, a bad day for the Jets. It happens. But its not something we'll see on a consistent basis.

This team, if healthy, should be consistently dominant.

Beating a team you're supposed to beat isn't any less sweet than tougher games. That's 3 straight offensive gameplans that have attacked the opposition's weakness by Schittenheimer (although one could have Asked Madden during today's game). Let's hope this habit sticks.

While I agree that it was great to see the Jets play great on offense, especially limiting stupid mistakes, lets keep this game in perspective. We did play the lowly Bills. Next week we go up against an underachieving and hungry Vikings team.

I'd be surprised if we put up 28 next week.

Well it would have to be a defense with at least one, maybe even 2 elite corners.

..and a really good defensive coach, plus some stud LB's and ability to shut out the run.

    ....so practice?

so true. Barring injury to this offensive core, we should be putting up points all year long. Dare I say it, even if Sanchez goes down for a while. There are so many weapons available in addition to a damn good ground game (when emphasized) Brunell can be simply average and we can move the ball. Plus that defense once it clicks Hot Damn I am fired up! Health is the key to maintaining some offensive awesomeness

Truth be told one reason this offense has been so damn good the last 3 weeks is that they faced an elite D in practice every day. the defense they have faced every day is better than the ones they are playing on sundays, so they are just making it look easy right now. I can't say it enough, I am fired up right now. I want the Vikings game to be on Monday night! (note: tomorrow)

    I agree.

The Vikes defense isn't bad, or mediocre. They are good. Its their offense that has limited them in their losses.

The Jets have to create points off of turnovers against Favre, and the fumble prone Peterson.

They also have to make sure Sanchez is protected, because he hasn't been under duress much this season. Their secondary isn't very good, but the protection must be there.

Yep, this is the Sanchez window. If he keeps playing the way he is the Jets will win a Super Bowl sometime soon and maybe a few of them. Without him we're just another 9-7 team watching the teams with great QB's win Super Bowls.

I totally agree. He is that good. He is still going to have a bad game here and there. Even Peyton Manning has a bad one once in a while. Overall, he is definitely a QB who can lead a team to a championship.

And you know what? It really feels right now like all the pieces really are in place. The team just needs to play with the same discipline they showed today, and they are as good as anyone in the league.

If they have another solid showing next week on monday night, National TV, watch out. You will find out your neighbor of 20 years is a Jet fan JUST LIKE YOU! I will be subscribing to the Steak in the trash can mentality and wont watch or read any media for the rest of the year, otherwise i may barf.

The fact that almost every player in their post-game interviews mentioned "Challenging the three phases of the game" shows this team was prepared to lay a beating on the Bills, because it's almost as if there was no excuse not to.
