I don't see why the Jets would give them Evans/Coleman at all. Coleman was MUCH better on Bess/Hartline than Wilson was on the outside, and with safety help over the top, he should be just fine on Parrish. I expect to see him jamming at the line all day long. If we think about it, most of Coleman's past troubles came when he was forced into single, inside coverage against teams with 4 or 5 deep WR corps (or in that absurd mixed zone we saw in the preseason). The Bills go three deep at best. I don't think he'll be THAT much of a liability, but this is Drew Coleman we're talking about . I couldn't stand him prior to the last couple of games.
I think Cro can man up on Lee Evans and then put Coleman on the other guy with safety help over the top.
Is there a chance that Coleman has improved enough that coaches have faith in him? I can't see Pettine and Rex putting in a guy who is not going to be suitable.
lets see now should we go with what "the football scientist" at ESPN feels or what Coaches Ryan, Pettine and Thurman think?? tough call
Roscoe is not a good WR. I love him as a U alumni and he's a great returner, but he's a crappy route runner and not very tall (lol @ saying that..but it's true) he's had plenty of years to get it together and always ends up the #3, getting beat out by guys like jeff reed and players of similar caliber. yes, coleman has been traditionally awful as every single jets fan knows, but maybe he's gotten better. it seems like it. and if there's any time to start him as a #2, it'd be against the anemic buffalo bills WR core and mediocre Quarterback. drew coleman has at least enough experience to stop parrish from having a huge game and not commit stupid penalties.
hes basing this on colemans numbers from last year ... as much as i dislike coleman, even i am willing to say that hes been much improved, so far, this season
Steve Johnson, the former 7th rder out of Kentucky, had made big catches vs the Jets last year if I recall and I hear he is the No.2 for BUF. He might put on a good game as that 6-8 yd type of posession WR for them. Coleman has to do a good job on him, might be one of the few times where the no.2 of an opponent isn't a huge mismatch.
Agreed. He's looked a little better this season, and has taken the #2 spot, but we're still talking about a team with 3 guys averaging 3 catches per game a piece. Not exactly frightening. BTW, Josh Reed played for the Bills. If Parrish lost out as a WR to Jeff Reed, he'd be a whole different level of fail  I don't think Johnson rose up to the #2. I heard rumors of that, but I thought Parrish secured the job last week. Oh well, it doesn't matter. Either way, Coleman will be outside with a safety to guard against deep routes. He's done well for two weeks now against crossing patterns. He should be fine.
The big difference with Coleman is that its not his first year in this system, Pool, Cro and Wilson it is, although Cro seems to have grasped things pretty well
He appears to have improved from the last few years. He isn't gonna anything special but I think he can do the job on sunday.
The system will protect Coleman. This is one of the points that the MCG crowd bitched the most about. You can talk matchups all you like, but there is no credible argument against the fact that Revis owed his stats to the system just as much as the system owed it's stats to Revis. Hopefully they'll shut him down until after the Bye....But at the end of the day we can win without him, but.... It would be nice if the guy that thinks so much of his own play was keeping us from having the Drew Coleman or Kyle Wilson discussion.
LOL. The smart money says that Herm never saw the Terminator movie before he started to do those segments.
It's really hard to argue with KC Joyner when the hidden gems his numbers dig up match with the overwhelming public perception of the issue at hand. There apparently are many things that Drew Coleman is good to passable at or the Jets wouldn't have kept him for as long as they have. He's working on his second head coach and defensive coordinator and 4 pairs of eyes have said, ok we can put him on the field. Covering good WR's outside is not one of those things. I think if the Jets don't get to Fitzpatrick with some consistency on Sunday things could get very hairy before all is said and done. BTW, their decision not to start Wilson against the Bills tells me that they don't think he can cover Parrish or Evans at this point even with safety help. Both Evans and Parrish are a lot scarier in terms of deep damage than Davone Bess or Brian Hartline, so I think we've discovered the Wilson line in terms of where the Jets are not willing to go with him at this point: no more matchups on fast receivers who can go deep.
I think it's a good move if only to see how the rookie responds. Maybe he'll learn from this and bust his ass in practice. Wouldn't he benefit from some extra time with Brunnel and Santonio Holmes?
I have never been impressed with Metrics in football. Too much chaos and random shit happen out there.
