I know you've only been here a few days, but there actually was quite a bit of concern for Faneca's pass protection last year. A HELL of a lot more anguish than you'll find for Slauson. I'm not sure why you're having a tough time understanding that the majority of people here aren't overly concerned with Slauson's pass protection, especially when compared to his run blocking. You should try reading the posts thoroughly before you choose to be an asshole.
And the best part is, it's part of the standard package now. I like to use that for some of the other games.
It could be much worse... Remember those revolving door OGs we plugged in when Kendall left? I think they're both out of the league now. THEY were terrible. Clemens almost got killed every single play.
For those of you still talking up Faneca----I cannot post the link but here is the article read on Lyle Sendlein (pictured above) has provided solid protection so far, but Andersons blind side protection has been completely inadequate the first two weeks Although the defense may have received the most flak for the 41-7 pounding at the hands of the Falcons, the offense was just as ineffective. A lot of the problems stemmed from the offensive lines very poor play, especially Andersons blind side. Derek Andersons current troubles is the hot topic regarding the Cardinals offense, but the offensive line hasnt given the struggling quarterback a very easy task or even a fighting chance at times. Levi Brown, the biggest culprit so far this season, continues to leave so much to be desired from a franchise tackle. Since Browns arrival in Arizona, hes been a perennial disappointment, but for lack of a better option hes continued to start for the Cardinals. Last Sunday, Brown turned in one of his poorest performances to date. Aside from allowing a sack, Levi alone was responsible for an astonishing eight quarterback pressures, all of which came from Andersons blind side. Continuing down the line from left to right, Alan Faneca also had a very poor performance. Fanecas veteran presence was supposed to provide the Cardinals line with a boost, but its starting to appear that the Jets may have made the right choice in letting him go. Jonathan Babineaux absolutely manhandled Faneca on a consistent basis last week. Babineaux compiled one sack, one quarterback hit, and two quarterback pressures. Against Atlanta, Anderson dropped back 33 times and from the left side alone he was pressured 10 times and hit 3 times, including both sacks allowed by the Cardinals. In other words, 40% of the time Anderson dropped back to pass he was directly impeded by pressure allowed by either Brown or Faneca.
God dammit I miss having sunday ticket. I nearly swallowed my pride and went back to DTV this year but I couldn't bring myself to sign a 2 year contract w/them - especially with the looming lockout.
I blame revis for Wilson too. Shit I blame revis for everything. If he had been in camp Wilson could have stuck to one position. If he was in camp we would have beaten Baltimore. If we lose any game between now and whenever the queen decides to play again it will be his fault for that too.
You really are nothing more than a one-note troll now. Go back under the bridge and leave the football discussion to people capable of having it. Thank you.
You didn't see a difference? Vlad is a quarter of a step slower off the snap, and he's having problems communicating protection responsibilities. Those are 2 of maybe 10 things he needs to work on.
I didn't see that post before for some reason. "Both struggle most in pass protection"? That's entirely not the case for Slauson. I agree, Vlad's a little slower off the snap, and he's struggling to adjust to having different responsibilities in pass protection at the guard spot than at RT. I really think he'd be better off with less decision making at the tackle position, and hopefully he's been working out more there in practice.
What has opened my mind in this game of football is even on gameday I've stopped watching the ball until its in the air or the RB has broken a run longer than 5 yards. Its amazing how much you see.
Yeah, that's why I record the games. I like to be fully immersed in the flow of the games while they're on live, although I do tend to follow the play of the line as a unit at the snap.
He may be a troll, but he is absolutely right on this one. If Revis had been in shape he would have blanketed Clayton. Since he was limited to one side of the field the Ravens simply avoided him. If Revis had been shape Moss doesn't score that TD, and Revis doesn't pull a hammy. Fortunately Cro stepped up big time. If Revis had been in shape he would have been covering Marshall and that game would have been a blowout. If Revis had not held out, we would be 3-0, and wouldn't be ranked so low in pass defense. It's hard to deny that.
Oh, and I watch the games again as well. For me it's more because I watch them stone cold sober the second time around.
Iggy would you agree with the statement that ultimately Slauson is better suited as a RG than a LG? All in all he's played most of his college career as a RG... I actually don't dislike him as a LG, he's slowly getting his act together, is ok in pass protection, powerful and let's not forget we played some pretty good defenses these first three games... but with his skillset imo he should take over from Moore at RG when he retires/can't hold on to the starting job anymore.
Clayton doesn't play for the Ravens anymore. Revis was supposed to have safety help on the post. Just because he's on an island doesn't mean he NEVER has safety help over the top. It's been stated that the protection was blown on that one. Agree that it's good Cro stepped up. Agree that it hurt in that game. Our offensive struggles hurt us significantly in the Ravens game. There were any number of things that could have been improved slightly to get us the win. The hamstring injury has hurt us. I'm not denying that. However, Don's entire post count lately has been him heading into every thread, regardless of topic, and posting some anti-Revis bullshit. It sucks that he's hurt, but he's had hamstring problems in the past, even in seasons in which he didn't hold out. The best argument you can make is that his holdout delayed his yearly hamstring trouble, and that Moss play pushed it over the edge. I can't really argue with that one.
I think he'll be just fine at LG, and I don't think Moore is going anywhere at RG. The guy is 30, on the books for 2 seasons after this one, and will likely be able to play RG after that. I'd rather have Slauson at LG. It really strikes me as a coachable problem with his run blocking. He clearly has the physical tools, as you said, and once he settles down in games, his pass protection has been good. I'm VERY interested to see how he does, however, in some of our games against the NFC North teams. There won't be a better test of his pass blocking than those games.
slauson isn't playing that bad, you can't honestly expect a 6th round 2nd year player to perform like a 9 time pro bowler can you? LG and RG are the least improtant positions on the line. The most importan (in order) is LT,C,RT,then the guards. and we have an all pro LT and C and a very solid RT and RG. relax he is playing well and ducassee will be a beast when he's ready
Fair enough. I honestly wasn't looking to disparage anyone. I just don't get why anyone would really want to. That sounds awesome, and I would watch that I think. Yeah, I tend to watch a lot more these days. Rather than watching the ball, I'm watching players, where guys are lined up, who is covering who, etc.
