The Fins and Pats had a shot at him when the Jets released him at the end of camp. No interest at all. I'd rather have kept Whitehead than re-sign him but that's water under the bridge.
Lets see 8 more sacks from JT, 10 from Pryce & 10 from Pace & we should begin to strike some fear into the opposing side.
They tried to do what we did with clowney and t-rich and it didn't work lol. pryce up and left for the jets. the players love rex, there isn't much more to it. and the ravens can't blame the firm, they tried to do something which technically isn't legal to do on a wink wink deal with the player and the player left and said screw you and he still gets paid from Balt and the jets now. more money, better chance at a SB, and playing for the coach you want to play for. why wouldn't price leave?
Yeah but Richardson didn't have a contract guaranteed by being on the roster the first game when the Jets did that. Pryce gets his full paycheck from the Ravens and then gets to do whatever else he wants. Playing is better than not playing and for Pryce playing for Rex Ryan is better than playing for anybody else. If the Ravens didn't see this coming they were willfully blind to it. Pryce had even said he'd follow Ryan wherever he went and he had a guaranteed salary and the freedom to make his own deal.
excellent signing. We'll see what he ends up contributing in the long run, but for depth alone, this move makes a ton of sense
Seems like a good deal if his contract is guaranteed already with the Ravens, meaning the Jets can sign him cheap.
But I can understand the Ravens being upset if Pryce's reps said he will resign. But then again, can't fault the guy for taking the Jets offer as who knows if in the end the Ravens just let him sit all year and don't bring him back.
And won't that be a beautiful sight to see, those three back on the field. Better pass rush, better coverage, and another receiving threat. Good times.
All players fall in love with Rex, he had the opportunity and pounced, good for us and thank god we have Rex. That's saying a lot, when a player is willing to leave his locker room of friends behind to come play for 1 coach. At least we know if Rex needs any organs we can take them from Rob, we need Rex around as long as possible.
Unless there's an injury situation we don't know about this is exactly what the Ravens were doing: using Pryce as strategic depth instead of playing him.
That's a good point. I do think it's possible the Ravens got hustled though. He may have been a bit disgruntled not playing and when he had his opportunity to get out and still get paid he gave them every answer they wanted to assure his release.
I like this signing....he'll fit in well with the Dline rotation, and is familiar with Rex's system. As I stated earlier in the thread...he'll fill a Marques Douglas role on this team...but with more talent.
Not a lot of downside to this signing. If there is any production left in him, Rex will squeeze it out.
It seems like there was a deception here... the way its being reported it sounds like the Ravens were blindsided, not trying to find a clever way to get rid of him.
