I am coming to New York on December for my honeymoon and will be taking in my first NFL game. I am a life long Dolphins fan and planned on wearing my new Brandon Marshall jersey. However I've been advised by a local New Yorker that this is a pretty dumb idea as the abuse I would get would be pretty intense.

I don't mind taking (and expect) a little verbal abuse, mainly playfull ribbing, but he indicated that it could get nasty and physical.

    Any thoughts?

As long as you are respectful, and don't get in anyone's face...You will be fine. There are always hundreds of opposing jerseys being worn as you walk into the stadium...You might get some comments here and there, but nothing physical. I have never heard of anyone getting into a fight who didn't deserve it.

You'll be fine. If say for example, the Dolphins win and you get in people's faces and talk smack after the game, things can and probably will get physical. I'd recommend sitting in the lower tier. The nosebleeds are where you find the drunken psychos that would instigate.

After going to the Jets Pats game last Sun and hearing all of the shit the Pats fans were getting while walking through the parking lot, I would say do it lol. Just be ready to hear the shit talking and hopefully you won't be sitting in a section with too many drunks. The drunker the Jets fan around you are, the worse it's going to be. But I would say defiantly wear your teams jersey with pride. I did at an Eagles game last month, granted it was only a preseason game I still got a lot of shit from those Eagles fans. Good luck, hopefully we won't see a video of you getting into a fight with a Jets fan the following day on Youtube.

Just don't be an idiot. Most of the fights are from fans who get up and are obnoxious when their team scores. Cheer for your team, wear your colors, but don't stand up to cheer.

Most have said this already - just be respectful to others and don't taunt or get too carried away and you'll have no problems. You'll have other Dolphin fans around here and there. If you over-celebrate somebody might give you some verbal, and if you get too carried away don't be surprised if a cup comes over to say hello.

The aggressive ones get the aggression back x's 2. In the NY area we all know plenty of friends and even family who root for other teams. This isn't the case in most one-team cities around the country. I think the abuse can be far worse in other cities and that NY gets a bad rap.

Will the new wife also be Dolphin Cosutmed?

If you don't have rabbit ears, you will be fine. It's the one's that react to the remarks (and you will hear some) that get themselves into trouble.

It's cold in December so make sure you just wear the jersey with nothing warm underneath.

you won't have much of a problem. You will be treated decently if you treat others decently. You will be laughed at quite a lot, however, on the way to the exits in the third quarter with your Dolphins trailing by four touchdowns or more, though

At the pats game 2 x pats fans sat in front were great , shpwed respect and left in one piece! 3 other dicks were bad mouthing all over , swore at 2 women and got the shit kicked out of them.

I would go with the former!

Reverse psychology at it's finest.

Seriously though, I have seen people take some rough abuse at games. I personally would never put my hands on anyone, but there is certainly a minority out there who might go so far.

If you're bringing your wife, I'd say just leave the colors at home, dress neutral. If you're coming with a male friend, man up and rep.

Also, be prepared for the sweep.

Have a nice honeymoon. Save your money and skip the game. Why waste good money to be ridiculed and watch your team get blown out? Not very fun.

Appreciate the feedback....Bringing the wife, makes me lean towards leaving the jersey at home.

We come from a small town in Canada, so the experience maybe a little overwhelming.
