LOL oh wow, what a come back! Dude, you are a troll. I'm glad there's Jets fans in here with some actual football knowledge like Cato and Doogstein.
Him and Cro played rough tonight in patches. This was usually when neither were physical at the line. Wilson's biggest issue is he plays catch-up to often and then also doesn't get his head around all the time. He's to slow to make the move when he's playing off the player he's covering. He's still learning. Even the slow receivers are faster than the majority of guys he saw in college. Cro just gets lazy sometimes which is no excuse. We also had no pass rush tonight, making Henne look good because he often had all day to throw. We are still solid against the run, but we don't really have any consistent scary threat on pass rush (even with Pace we don't necessarily have that, but he's really good). Taylor's played good, but he's older and banged up. Ellis is a down lineman (who really has to watch for the run every play) and he can't do it on his own every play. Pouha is just a block eater/run stuffer. Same for Devito. Thomas is generally a quickness guy who struggles against better blocking teams. Also to be fair and give credit, the Dolphins do have one of the best offensive lines in football.
Guys, take off the homer glasses. Seriously. Wilson did not have a good game. Wait, let me rephrase that in the terms of the thread. WILSON. DID. NOT. HAVE. A. GOOD. GAME. Rookie or not, he allowed Bess to go on a field day with those intermediate routes. Were they good catches? Yeah. Maybe he was two yards behind, or a yard short, or a hold that led to a pass interference, but that's all it takes. He didn't play well, just like the Baltimore game. Now, to save face: Did Revis possess all world skills as a rookie? Obviously not. Will Wilson? No. I think Wilson will become a very good CB in this league, as do many of you, but he will learn as time goes on. Instead of judging him on potential, *COUGH* the same way you chastise the Dolphins posters regarding Vontae Davis and co *COUGH*, I can judge on single game performance. He did not play well at all. Henne threw for 363 yards and two TDs against the BEST secondary in the NFL from last year. Yes, Revis is missing, as are Strickland and Sheppard (who were upgraded imo by Cro and Wilson) but stands as no excuse for allowing such an astronomical figure against our defense. As I see it right now, we had a sub-par pass-defense against the Ravens and an overall poor outing against the Phins. The second half against the Pats was our saving grace. I basked in the glory of that win but will not dismiss the poor showing our pass defense had, it's as simple as that.
^ so, by your logic, if wilson and cro are upgrades then lowery and lito would have been worse, and would have lost the game by giving Henne more yards and TDs. So wilson had a better game than they did, and that means he did okay not fantastic. I don't know what you are looking for from a rookie. He makes plays at times, other times he gets beat. Just like any other corner in the NFL. He is doing what I expect him to do. And Bess is one of the best 3rd down receivers in the game. I'm not shocked at what happened today. Maybe that's why I'm not like "WTF rookie!!11" I know whats coming week to week. I have my expectations - they are being met.
Upgrades to what exactly, themselves? Let me be more clear. Revis is still the number one. Sheppard was the number two, and if Strickland was healthy year round he'd be the number 3 (maybe 4). Sheppard is gone, as is Strickland. In their place is Cromartie - new #2, and Wilson - new #3. The 'lowery and lito would have been worse , and would have lost the game' doesn't apply according to what I said. I was not equating his performance against another CB. Compared to Asante Samuel, he played like shit. Compared to Darius Butler last week, he played like very well. Obviously, that's not the point. I'm rating his performance on this game, on the receiver he played, and on the results that were played out. Read my original post again. I like Wilson. I think he will be a very good CB sooner or later. From 8:30 til 11:30 pm Sunday night, he did not exhibit his A game.
Wilson is probably also suffering from having been flagged on some big pass intereference calls and is therefore not playing as tight or well as he would otherwise. He is a rooki and this is to be expected. Miami do actually have a pretty good passing game in case you had not noticed.
two things: 1) turn your head around (when the ball is in the air and..) 2) look at the quarterback. (he gets locked in on the reciever and could gain a step from watching the qb's eyes.) that said, he's a rookie, he will b fine.
This board is f***ing ridiculous. Wilson has been looking like absolute s*** most of the time thus far. Yea, he might turn it around at some point, but he sucks right now. So shut up with the fanboy crap and just say it. Royal Tee nailed it. He's letting receivers fly past him, turns his hips all different ways, and (worst of all) won't get his damn head around. He needs to step his game up ASAP, cause we need him. He clearly has the talent. Some of you who live on this board are like f***ing Nazis. Anyone who disagrees needs to be shutdown with insults and flamed off the board. Bunch of f***ing bullies at the cool table.
Compare Nazi actions with some of crap you see on this board from day to day. It's not an insult, it's an accurate comparison. Really, pick a thread on the main page. No joking, pick one. I'd approximate there's an 80% chance you find one of the regulars (perhaps yourself?) railing on someone for saying, I don't know, maybe we should have kept LW. But I suppose you're okay with it, as long as the ones doing the railing fall in line with your thinking?
Dude, you don't know anything about football, players or anything else in life. This is of course according to a few of the self-professed experts on this site. Just because a guy played like complete dogshit for most of the same, doesn't really mean that he played like complete dogshit- it just means that you don't know what you're talking about.
we're throwing a rookie into a tough situation, Wilson will be fine in the nickel package and by the end of the seasons I suspect his mental errors will be cut in 1/2.
Hope he cuts his hair. I'm damn sick of all these dreads-everywhere players in the NFL. So boring now.
Shhhhh. Here's a secret..... Kyle Wilson will look a lot better when the jets have some semblance of a Pass Rush. As of now he STILL looks DAMN GOOD and is Tenacious.... Don't tell all the whirly birds who fly off the handel, this is a Secret but Wilson is a STUD!
Having trouble understanding how he looked damm good last night. It's not flying off the handle to call what you saw last night as less-than-stellar gameplay from the rookie. Was the fact that he let his man consistently get better position on him, was slow to react to changes in the pattern, and that his head almost never turned simply the result of over-imagination by a few posters on this board?
one point that keeps getting missed. the miami wide receivers are actually PRETTY DAMN GOOD. Bess is a friggin rocket. wilson had to do everything he could to keep with him. marshall also put a pretty good whoopin on cro all night. these things dont really matter too much tho because A) wilson will get better and B) revis will deal with marshall next game
