I am still amazed by how many football "experts" kept blasting the Jets all off season for signing LT over TJ. Even reporters and broadcasters that cover the Jets were jumping on board taking shots at the Jets. Most fans who watch the game saw the same thing, TJ has no more burst, the Jets run blocking was so good that it made Jones look good. We all also speculated that SD'd OL was far better at pass blocking then run blocking, but somehow the "Experts" could not see it. Unfortunately, I think the media wants to see the Jets fail so bad that they are going to grasp at any straws that they can in order to try to prove their point.
No. It does indicate that this team has discipline issues though, and if Rex doesn't nip it in the bud, it will cost us big. I don't care if Inez Sainz walked in the locker room in a thong and see thru bra. The Jets, or any team, needs to act like the professionals they are. That level of discipline wins tight football games, and that is very obviously lacking. Disciplined football teams doesn't show up at a scrimmage with a sackful of McDonalds cheeseburgers. They don't have pushing and shoving matches between coaches. They don't get stupid penalties that give the other team field position, and they don't have coaches that promote unprofessional behavior. I'm not blindly ripping the Jets here. You all know I am one of the most optimistic fans out there. But I'm not blind in my devotion to the team, either. I think I'm a pretty knowledgeable football fan, and I believe that this is a serious issue with the team. You guys can disagree with me, and that's fine. It doesn't change my opinion, though, and I know that I'm not alone in thinking this way. Several other members of this board, including the guy voted most knowledgeable on this board, agree with me, as do many professional analysts. That there is a discipline issue with this team is not in question, except for the homers wearing green glasses. How adversely it affects the team as the season goes on is the only question.
I think you are blindly ripping the jets, considering the bolded never happened Undisciplined teams continue to make the same mistakes over and over. You are just naming everything that has gone remotely wrong and attributing that to being undisciplined
I think the Jets were mad at TJ for the second half of the Indy game. He was more hurt than he led on and his touches after Greene got hurt killed us. I don't know if Woodhead was dressed that day, but he would have certainly been a better option than TJ running in mud with an injury. Anyone would have been.
... exactly right, + 1 ... ... i was of the belief that greene/lt would be an improvement from jones/greene ... ... i have been truly amazed by the level of performance ... LT has been the most impressive thing so far this season ... l_j_r
GREAT move by Tanny ridding the Jets of plodding, pilefinder Thomas Two Yards and setting up the great ONE-TWO punch of the war machine and LT instead
On his last what? I'm more impressed by his football savvy than by his physical wherewithal. Watch how he picks up blitz's in the backfield, sneaks out into open area in the flats to receive a check down and finds the angle to get to the first down marker while db's a safeties are bearing down at full speed. He's experienced and extremely smart on the field. His locker room presence and leadership constantly mentioned by his teammates. In this era of the me-first mindset and playing like shit once you "get yours" $$$...his contributions to this team far outweighs whatever the Jets are paying him. My opinion on LT has done a complete 180. I really disliked him as a Charger. I love him as a Jet.
I think the writing on the wall for LT this season was him getting the Jets tattoo. Someone who gets a giant, permanent, Jets tattoo on their leg isn't looking to just collect a paycheck for a year while running out the string on a career.
