Hmmmmm..... I think its wishful thinking but,

Jenkins thinking about playing next season

Nose guard out for the year with torn ACL
    Aaron Wilson

Despite tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee for the second time in the past two years, New York Jets nose guard Kris Jenkins is contemplating returning next season.

Jenkins said he also tore his meniscus.

Jenkins is going to think about whether to retire, but might play again.

“Don’t know,” Jenkins told the New York Times. “It’s one of those things where I can’t just jump up and say, Yeah, I know what I’m going to do.

“Until I make up my mind, I will prepare mentally as if I will return. At the same time, I will deal with every other aspect of my life as if I’m retiring.”

That's nice, but the Jets clearly need to assume that he won't be back (or will just get hurt again if he did try), and acquire a big body during the offseason.

I want the big guy to be comfortable no matter what his decision is.

I guess he'll have a little more time to recover this time around.. hopefully things work out.

Even if he wouldnt be able to contribute next year, having him around the team would be invaluable. hes got to think of his health first though.

Come back big fella! If he is able to return and does, even if he plays 10 snaps a game, it would be AWESOME!!!!

I'm thinking he's going to retire.. It's his 4th major surgery on his knees and 2nd in 2 years on same knee. I just can't see how he takes a chance again and blowing them out AGAIN. NT just went up to the top of our draft board IMO along with 3-4 DE. I'm inclined to think JT may stay another year and then retire after 2011 (assuming we have a 2011 season). I'm grateful to what Jenkins brought to us though and wish him nothing but the best in his recovery and decisions.

We can't depend on Jenkins anymore and I expect him to retire. If he wants to restructure his deal and try for a miraculous comeback Id support it, though, he was a complete beast when healthy and Im a fan of his.

I'd bet a lot of money on him retiring.

For the sake of himself, I would much rather see him retire.

Why on earth do some people say this? Going into this season, coming off his second ACL tear, he's one of our defense's best players. Going into next season, coming off ACL number 3, he's gotta take a pay cut to come back?

Kris Jenkins is worth every dollar, if he can return and stay healthy. I imagine the only way he doesn't come back is if doctors or coaches give him the notion that he would just get hurt a fourth time. Otherwise, I can't see him tapping out. This is a team that's going to be still competing for a Super Bowl, maybe even moreso than now if some of our young guys progress well in his absence. There's no good reason why Jenkins would decide not to be a part of that.

I have so much respect for him already. To go through the exact same rehab to get NFL ready would be so tough. If he does I hope to god he stays healthy.

It just sucks that it happens to such a nice guy. Always seems positive, when he did the presser last year about coming back I felt so bad for him and his family, you can tell he really wants to be out their for all the right reasons.

I'm no expert, but after suffering a similar injury and being around others in rehab with the same, I'd say that hes done. For such a big big man to have this kind of injury is not a good thing at all, unless there is now some kind of arthroscopic surgery that can replace the whole thing.
Theres more to life than football Mr Jenks, you and your family should come first.

According to nyjetscap.com the Jets will save 4.6 million on the cap if they cut Jenkins next offseason. That 4.6 could go a long way towards keeping one of our FAs

Especially if they are a final 4 or 8 team, or if there is a new cap and CBA.

I'd like there to be football next season. If not, Jenks will retire.

It's gonna be hard for him to come back. He rehabbed like crazy for 8 plays or whatever. But for 4 million, it might be worth it to do it again (I think the Jets will restructure that if he comes back)
