    Francesa

The last 2 days have been a hard listen. I wonder if his bosses are upset with the emotional venom. Obviously, the offense is worthy of arrest and censure. But the personal attacks on Johnson, T and Ryan were uncalled for.
There is a good argument to be made that if the Jets could suspend him without pay they would. But since they have to pay him make him come to work and do his job. Unfortunately, proposing that to Francesa would infuriate him and lead to yelling and other abuse.
Is that the way to treat your audience? I hope that wfan will censure him for the rude behavior and obvious loss of balance and control.

The people who would have the authority to censure Mike would be idiots to do it since it would hurt their bottom line. You might have dozens of people who stop listening to Mike because of the way he acts but thousands more tune in because of it.

You notice how right after his rant they went to the longest commercial break ever? It's great for the advertisers because after a rant like that they know everyone is tunning in and less likely to surf away from the commercials because they want to hear the continuation.

Bottom line, Mike is untouchable because he makes the advertisers a lot of $$$ and at their level that's the only thing that matters. Being a "hater" is okay if it makes money.

    Francesa

The commercials on FAN are so predictable that a listener never has to hear one. I really don't think that these rants yesterday and today increased his audience. It was so over the top that even listeners who have respected his knowledge in the past are turned off.

I think just cause this happened to the Jets its getting alot more coverage then it should. Kareem McKenzie got one two years ago with the Giants he played that week and no one talked about it. He had Sparano on today and he prolly didnt bring up the fact that Ronnie Brown got a DUI this summer without missing any game time. Its funny that this is one of the biggest off the field stories in the NFL so far yet Mike can't get any Jet player, official etc on his show.

Mike's patting himself on the back and bashing Tanny because the "Jets tried to mislead people" .... "It's really out of line." "They finally came clean" .... "woody's not very savvy as a football guy." "Jets are trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes about Braylon." "They don't have the GUTS to admit" that they are playing him because they want to win. "They have become a VERY VERY DIFFERENT (meaning classless) franchise."

Edit - FYI - Mike didn't say classless, but that's clearly what he meant.

This morning I was listening to Boomer and Carton. They had Tanny on the show and at one point Carton brought up the quote from Francessa about the Jets and the whole Braylon situation. It had something to do with since Rex has been here they have thrown out the mantra of bringing in quality players with no off the field issues. Forgot what the response was but still kinda funny.

Also the other day they were talking about the possible new producers for Francessas show and they asked Al Hughes if he wanted to apply. He said he wasn't and then they made a joke about them working together, and the best quote was "Hey Mike I got another Jet song for the show" they all laughed about it.

So it's okay to bring up Woody's daughter, who has absolutely nothing to do with Braylon, DWI or anything - However, if you try to bring up how the Giants dealt with it two years ago (or the fact Francesa's reaction to it is suddenly stronger now that it's a Jets problem), you get shouted off the phone because he claims that's off topic.

Did Fatty just bring Woody's daughter into the conversation? What did he say?

Yesterday Fatty told Incarcerated Bob that he would treat a future Giant DWI exactly like he is treating Edwards. RIIIIIIIIGGHHHT.

Well if he doesn't he is going to get blasted in the media and on his show. He'll be answering so many calls about why he isn't going after that Giants player.

The response from Tanny was...It's a Risk/Reward scenario.

You get a player that was SB MVP for a fifth for a reason.

then he brought players that Parcells himself had taken chances on.

(Jason Ferguson comes to mind but was not mentioned. Fell to 7th, drafted here, and then brought by Parcells to both Dallas and the Gay Sharks

Here's the overriding problem and issue I have with Chubby, Lupica and several other media outposts: (which btw, don't kid yourself, are integral in forming the national view of the Jets)
Why are the Jets being held to a different standard than other NFL teams? Where was this outcry and outrage here in NY when Kareem McKenzie was arrested for a DUI, started 2 days later because the Giants were in a stretch drive and needed a win? Well, McKenzie doesn't have a history of bad behavior. Right. So that means because he hadn't been in trouble before, when HE is driving drunk, he is NOT going to kill someone? It doesn't work that way. The Jets are asking the question, when has someone else handled this differently? Why are THEY expected to "take a stand" and bench the player when NO ONE ELSE does? It's a double standard that is being applied here, because its personal for Chubby and other media members. The Jets did Hard Knocks, and they {gasp} cursed a lot when they were on it. So when a player does something illegal, the Jets should not do what EVERY OTHER TEAM, INCLUDING THE OTHER ONE IN NY JUST A SEASON AND A HALF AGO DID, and suspend the player. Why?
The other issue is of course, if you say this to Tubby Francheese you are somehow condoning Edwards actions. Not accurate. I don't condone his actions, I think it's abhorrent, STUPID considering the options he had (and always have), and he should be benched for a game, JUST LIKE I think McKenzie should have been benched for that game. That's my opinion. BUT to ask the question "why are the jets being held to a different standard" is not condoning the behavior. Its asking, why the outrage for the Jets doing THE SAME THING as everyone else, and where was it when the Giants did this?
Unfortunately this will never get you on with Tubby Fran say so, but it sure makes me feel good to type it out...

Besides... that wasn't the entire goal... LIKE NEW ENGLAND, the blueprint was to form a core of good character players and then when the team was ready you add a few guys that you hope THE TEAM could keep in check.... Like the Pats did with Randy Moss and Dillon and on and on....

No Sports team is going to ignore ALL Bad seeds... You can't in this business..

Besides the fact that we don't even hear the half of it I linked to a story this morning that talked about what HUGE PARTIERS Shaun Ellis, John Abraham and all the Veterans on the Jets were back then.. WE never knew about that- That was supposed to be Preacher Herm Edwards Team of Saints.
