I'm getting tired of all of this nonsense. I love the brash talk from the coach, but the lack of discipline both on and off the field is testing my patience. This is where the loss of Thomas Jones and Alan Faneca has been missed the most.

I think this undisciplined talk is getting way blown out of proportion. Week one was unacceptable and they played undisciplined but that happens from time to time and it seemed to be corrected in week 2. We'll see going further but I don't seem to recall having many games last year with so many penalties. The Jets right now are the team everyone loves to hate but I think this talk of them being a thug team with no discipline is completely unfair. Sure Edwards was a dumbass but its not like the Jets are the only team to have a player arrested, I wouldn't think they are very high up the list either. We'll see how the season plays out but right now I think we are being labeled unfairly. I don't think any of this so called drama will have any impact on our season whatsoever.
Alan Faneca and Thomas Jones were both veterans on the team in 2008 when Shaun Ellis was arrested for marijuana possession. The Jets and also Jets fans knew the risk in trading for Braylon Edwards was about as high as the possible reward. Same with Holmes, and Cromartie hasn't shown to be that responsible a guy either. To be suddenly shocked that something like this is happening doesn't seem like a connection to me with Jones or Faneca. Neither of them choose the players being traded for. It's not like either of them would have flown in and snatched the keys from Braylon's hand. At some point the off-field responsibility of the player has to be his own, not the coach, not the GM, not the team leadership.
The Jets have found their motivation for the season. Last year it was "nobody believes in us." This year it is "everyone hates us." You know what...good. Would it be nice to have a team full of good guys making a title run? Absolutely. Does it matter? No, unless the team doesn't have the resilience to focus through "distractions." And if they can't do that they won't be winning a title anyway. Athletes are entertainers. Playing on Sundays is no different than a band stepping on-stage to play a gig. I have no illusions that the Jets have 53 dedicated professionals putting everything on the line to play a kid's game. No company has that no matter how much folks are paid. I hope Braylon has the biggest game of his career this weekend for Jets. That being said, I wouldn't want him dating my sister nor on my team in Trivia Pursuit.
It's easy to be successful when things are going your way but it's when adversity strikes that you find out your true character. We will find out just how great a coach Rex is through all this bullshit and see what type of leadership is in the locker room to hold this teams focus to the task at hand, which is winning games and not let the other stuff get in the way. I believe we'll come out on top. Unfortunetly Rex has this team as the most hated in the league and all this stuff does is fuel the fire.
I especially like the part about everyone hates us. I have always felt the media disfavored the Jets. Think about how they seemed to like the Herm Edwards hire. It wasn't because Edwards was a real prospect to be a good HC. It was because he was fitting in with the NFL's diversity program. Then when he turned into a clown they all loved that, because he made stories for them. They didn't care a bit that he was a lousy HC who was letting the team deteriorate. Even back in Namath's day all those old coot sportswriters who were used to the Giants disapproved of Namath. Fans of this team need to get thicker skin. Get used to it. Relish in their hatred. Use it to get stronger.
Also interesting is that there seem to be a very small number of fans voting in this poll who think that such things as BE's DUI will hurt the team.
I think his argument is on the field they would be more disciplined with more veterans. I agree that there is a better chance that cheeseburgers wouldn't be eaten during practice if those two were on the team. I also agree that these are grown ass men and not much can be done about off the field shit.
Would there have been hamburgers eaten on the field if Faneca and Jones were here? Would there have been the nightmare with the reporter if Faneca and Jones were there? I tend to think these things would not have happened with real veteran leadership which I think we are sorely lacking right now.
Why? We had the same coach with the same attitude and mostly the same players last year and none of this nonsense. But we did have Thomas Jones and Alan Faneca two highly respected veteran leaders who are now both gone.
You honestly feel that the reason for these "issues" is directly related to the releasing of Faneca and Jones? They would have stopped the hamburger deal? They would have ensured Braylon wasn't out boozing on an off-day? They would have asked Jenkins to stop hooting when Sainz walked in the locker room in all her glory? :rofl2:
Time to breakout the black uniforms and have Ozzy bite off a chickens head at halftime. Fuck training camp we should do offseason/preseason training in prison leagues!! Henne better watch out Bart Scott is going to rip his helmet off and bite out a chunk of his ear.
