I can't remember a time when the Jets faced as much publicity as they have been of late, e.g. Revis, Edwards, Frat boy image, rumors of lack of discipline, Rex's brash talk...I could go on. I'm not judging, just wondering if all this drama is distracting and will catch up with them as the season goes on. So..... A) The Jets will brush off all this shit and regain focus of a super bowl ring B) This season will be a distraction to the Jets and the papparazzi will make them the focus of their stories the rest of the season C) The Jets are becoming both an embaressment, and will trip over their own feet as a result D) Rex Ryan and coaching staff are shrewd enough to make it through the season with success
personally i dont think the team is good enough to win a superbowl this year. my major concern continues to be the consistency of the qb. if the jets lose it will be blamed on the things you have mentioned. however all that matters is that they are relevant and being talked about... that is what woody and tannenbaum want at this point. i guess they think it sells tickets. hey do you guys remember when tannenbaum used to talk about how we will only bring in character guys. interesting how that has changed.
Week 1: Well the Ines bullshit was in week 1 and the Jets looked pretty shitty, undisciplined against the Ravens. So distractions may have bothered them. Week 2: The Jets were very quiet the week of the Pats game, with Nary a squeak and certainly zero distractions. They looked an assload better. Week 3......Who the fuck knows.
make it through what? the simple things every NFL team goes through ever year? holdouts, DUI's, things like that?
I think its media hyping things up, for example, the Ines drama, all to get an article out the next day. I personally see nothing wrong with the JETS and how Rex carries himself and the team. People bring up Edwards but this was his own stupid mistake. That Monday night game was a mess but things seem to have been corrected. People say Rex is too relax yet he forces the team to do pushups and wasnt happy after the Edwards taunt. I think people should just let the JETS breathe, like the other teams in the NFL.
this isn't your daddy's jets (or for some of you, your childhood jets) this is a mentally tough team and they proved it. we needed a game like the monday night game to show us how mortal we were. like randy moss said....the jets handled adversity the right way. we got blasted in the media all week and look how we responded.
Option D. Braylon Edwards is a human being who will make mistakes. I believe, I may be wrong, that other players in the NFL have made mistakes and have gotten in trouble with the law. I do not remember the coach of the other teams being called undisciplined.
No team should ever give a fuck what the media thinks/has to say. Play the damn game, this is no excuse.
Worst case scenario we lose this week, end up 2-2 with Revis coming back + Pace + Holmes then finish the season red hot winning 9 of our last 12 games and win our division. Its way too early in the season for drama to "derail" us. Especially since we have a cupcake matchup in a week and a half then our best offensive + best defensive player back. If something like this happened week 16 or 17 then yeah thats when it could screw you. But the way things are set up right now makes it all a complete non issue. Plus it really isnt a big deal, the Braylon story has almost been near non existent on TV due to that Bronco wr killing himself.
I think with Rex leading the way this shit will rally the players. It's a us against the world mentality. What doesn't kill you only makes Braylon face lessor punishment, or makes you stronger.
Eeeeaaasssssyyyy Ashey, This cries out to me that YOU are the MAN!!!! A better and more frequent poster than I......WOW, I am humbled in your presence.
