Jets should do some investigation themselves to this matter and take two weeks to decide. Then once Santonio comes back, bench Braylon for a game. Or bench him in the Buffalo game.
I never put a poll up on the message board before so I had to do it. Plus anything I can do to prove that TGA doesn't view this forum, I'm all over it.
I would go with a 4 game suspension - The 2 games against Buffalo, the Detroit game and the bye week. That will send the message that the Jets are about character first and winning second!
Suspending him hurts the team and fans, he has so much money that giving him a fine isn't enough of a punishment. We need to hit him where it hurts so he really learns his lesson. I propose they force him to shave his beard.
I think he should be suspended for a game--driving drunk in New York City is just unacceptably stupid and dangerous, and the Jets should send a message to their players that they won't tolerate that behavior. I understand the complaints that suspending him unfairly hurts the team and the fans, but I think that the severity of the situation overrides that. Edwards was drinking with Donte Stallworth on the night that he killed a guy drunk driving, he should know better. Also, I don't think that the fact that the Dolphins let their criminals play should color the Jets response at all.
Put it in perspective. If Brady had a DUI instead of an accident last week do you think for even a second Bellishit would have benched him against the Jets? Well, do you?
rotoworld just reported this. According to the New York Post, Jets coach Rex Ryan is "so infuriated" at Braylon Edwards' DWI arrest that he is "strongly considering" benching the receiver in Week 3. I agree with this decision. He should be benched for his behavior
The problem with making that decision is that it would put the Jets at a large competitive disadvantage. They're already thin at WR and it's not like they Jets would get a roster spot to pickup another receiver. I hope that Rex makes the right decision here and puts the team in the best position to win.
I am very upset at all this discrimination against tinted windows. Dark windows should be treated the same as clear windows, this is the 21st century for crying out loud. What did the tinted window do to that cop? Was he so offended by the reflection he saw that he had to make a victim out of Braylon Edwards? Can professional athletes no longer get BJs in the privacy of their own Maseratis these days? What has this world come to...
I wouldn't say "No way in hell", but I don't think he'll sit given that the NFL prohibits it. The Jets should get out of this by doing as little as possible without increased negative attention from the league office. At this point, I think that's a heavy fine.
