They would be on it in a minute. They can't suspend him for DUI. Maybe they can come with another reason but everybody would see through that in a minute too.

He might. What I said was they can't suspend him. What I meant was unilaterly. It's not in their power anymore than it was in the Steelers'.

    These can't be Cromartie's kids. They look way older than 3, 3, almost 3, 3, 3 and a half, 3, and a newborn.

No, I didn't misread, I never said it was the law now, and I never said I've never made mistakes. I guess sometimes some leniency is fair, but for the most part, I think people who drive drunk deserve to spend time in jail. If that makes me an asshole, that's something I can live with.

That's probably exactly what Tanny is thinking anyway.

For PR Tanny says they will suspend him for Miami, but in reality he knows they will appeal the suspension and ultimatley "force" the team to delay it.

    Cimini on Edwards:

They can talk tough in a statement, but now it's time to act tough. They should start by deactivating him for Sunday night's game in Miami. Really, he should sit for at least two games. If the penalty is only a fine, or if they pass it off as a league matter, the Jets would be pulling an Edwards -- dropping the ball.

No joke, legalization is one hell of a deterrent to drunk driving. I'd rather smoke than drink, and who the fuck wants to drive when they do?

The 27-year-old was pulled over in his Range Rover in NY at 5:15AM for having tinted windows -- but police smelled alcohol. Edwards blew a .16.

    He's currently in custody.

NY Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum says "We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning ... We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures." Tannenbaum also said Edwards is aware the Jets provide a car service for all their players.

Edwards was at a charity event Monday night hosted by his teammate Jerrico Cotchery. Several other Jets players were also there.

UPDATE 8:45AM PDT: Edwards is still in custody, awaiting arraignment. FOX5 in NY obtained his mug shot (above).

No speeding when smoking that's for sure.

If legal though, maybe people would?

    I know I wouldn't.

He will be interviewing his mother next.....

You did misread. No one is excusing what he did. It's merely a question whether as some seem to think he should be drawn and quartered for it, or whether some lesser punishment is appropriate.

To me, he will deal with the law. He might have to pay a fine. Suspending him hurts the team and the fans.

    That about covers it.
