Pulled hamstrings are a very tricky injury. Revis is definitely out next week. I wouldn't be surprised if he's out for the next 4 weeks
I'm not going to go looking for it because it's a long-ass thread, but there were several people who floated the notion that Revis was going to have hammy troubles after the holdout. Looks like they were right. The Jets need to not rush him back I think. They should be able to cover the Fins guys next week without him and the Bills the week after. The only place that he's really necessary is when they run into a team with several talented wide receivers and a good tightend. That would be Minnesota in week 5, Cincinnati in week 12 and then in the playoffs. If you're going to have a 16 million dollar CB then you better have him on the field and healthy in the few situations in which that is most necessary.
Cromartie has never been able to cover Marshall in his career. Yes, looking at his height and athleticism, he should be a great match up for Marshall in theory. In practice, He's a terrible matchup because he's never been able to do it.
Pulled hammy means his dumbass was sitting on his couch during his 36 day hold out instead of training hard so he could step in and do what he is supposed to. Screw him. He doesn't care about winning. He just wanted to get paid. If he really cared about winning, he'd have at least come into the season in game shape. Pulled hammy. POcket pull is more like it, jerk off. And yes, the defense was better with out him. I wonder what all the doubters and critics have to say about that.
And yet San Diego went 4-2 against Denver in the 6 games in which they faced each other. In the wins Marshall caught 18-166-1 and 5-49-0. In the losses he went 3-26-0, 6-55-0, 7-72-0 (game 3 2007 was probably not Cromartie on him because Cro started only 8 games that year) and 6-75-0. If not for the freak game you'd say Cromartie had handled him pretty well with no TD's allowed. I'm betting he can handle him in Ryan's defense this time around. Edit: went and looked at the games in detail and Cromartie was not on Marshall for the 3-26-0 game. He was covering Eddie Royal most of the game. I still think he'll be ok in Ryan's defense and if the Jets need to try Wilson on him with safety help they always have that option. It's very, very rare that a QB/#1 WR matchup decides a game unless the QB is the superstar. Even then it's usually the running game and the use of multiple receivers that causes the breakout.
We could well be screwed against the fins and marshall because revis held out and wasn't prepared to play football. He will likely miss 2 games at least and the team might well struggle as a result. but what does he care, since he's getting paid and that is clearly all that matters.
Neither the Bills or the Vikings had Darrelle Revis on board and yet Marshall went 8-53-0 and 4-71-0 against them. That lead to 29 total points in the 2 games. I expect the Jets to completely shut down the Fins offense next week and there isn't a lot that the Henne/Marshall combo is going to do to fix that. If Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams manage to pull great games against the Jets we could well lose. Marshall isn't going to beat this defense though.
incarcerated bob incarceratedbob **BREAKING JETS NEWS** Darelle Revis has a grade 2 Hamstring Tear he will be gone for at least 3-5 weeks. This is not good news but expected
bahahahaha... i love how some of you fucktards are blaming Revis' holdout for his hammy injury. He was doing "two-a-days" during his holdout to keep himself in shape.....injuries happen, get used to it. Brad Smith went out with a jaw injury during the game.....i bet it was Revis's holdout that caused that. what a bunch of maroons.
You can't be serious thinking that his holdout had nothing to do with him getting a muscle straing/pull/injury within 2 weeks of coming back. Working out and getting ready on your own is MUCH different than playing football in game situations with pads and getting ready for a season.
