Muchas Actividades for Hispanic Heritage Day

The New York Jets announced today details of Hispanic Heritage Day that will be celebrated at this weekend’s game against the Patriots. The day is part of a league-wide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Jets Hispanic Heritage Day is presented by El Diario/La Prensa and MasterCard.
The Jets at Sunday's game will celebrate Hispanic heritage with a variety of cultural entertainment, performances and activities that reflects the vibrant diversity of New York's Latino population, the second-largest in the country.

Hispanic Heritage Day will feature a halftime performance by NOTA, the 2009 winner of NBC’s "The Sing-off." NOTA is a sextet from San Juan, Puerto Rico, who sing in harmony to a beat that includes Latin, R&B, pop and fusion jazz. Adrienne Bailon, formerly of girl groups 3LW and The Cheetah Girls, will perform the National Anthem.

On the plaza pregame, fans can enjoy a salsa dura band featuring Ray Rodríguez and Swing Sabroso, watch performances from Colombian and Salvadoran folklorico dancers as well as a Peruvian dance group. A traditional Colombian party bus, “La Rumberita,” will be parked outside of the West Great Hall gate while cigar roller Jose Reyes of “Da la vieja Havana Cigars” will be demonstrating his talents every five minutes from 1-4 p.m. WADO 1280 AM, 96.3 FM and 92.7 FM, all Univision stations, will be broadcasting from the plaza and giving away prizes with special guest AJ el Kallejero from el Detox Party on 96.3 FM.

Also at this weekend’s game the Jets will host groups from El Primer Paso and the Morris County Organization for Hispanic Affairs. MCOHA’s mission is to enrich the Morris County community by facilitating the adaptation and well-being of the low-income Hispanics and non-Hispanics through services, information, education and civic participation.

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month and the NFL’s annual Hometown Huddle, the Jets will donate and complete installation for a fitness zone at El Primer Paso in Dover, N.J., on Oct. 5. The mission of El Primer Paso is to be culturally and linguistically responsive to families with limited English speaking ability by providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate preschool programs, transitional education experiences for adults, and services to support affordable childcare for the community. The fitness zone will include bilingual signs with descriptions and instructional tips.

El Diario/La Prensa and the Jets formed a multiplatform partnership earlier this year that includes Hispanic Heritage Day presenting partner and online, print and radio advertising. As part of the partnership, the Jets will sponsor the El Awards this fall, award a $1,000 educational scholarship, and work with El Diario/La Prensa to cultivate and celebrate the Hispanic Jets football fans and community.

There is only one problem, hispanics love baseball and soccer, not football. There is probably 100 hispanics at each Jet game. We are politically correct, but we don't know our own customer base. Will Ines Sainz be there with that great ass, I have a football to throw around?

Yea it bothers me because it's retarded. 'jets de nueva york' versus 'dolphins de Miami'! Really? Are they expecting to draw a Spanish audience with that? That shit has nothing to do with Spanish heritage, it's just a business tactic to attract more viewers.
