Why are you annoyed by that? The white uniforms are awesome, and the same ones the Jets wore in the beginning.
There is no such thing as a road uniform. The home team has a choice to wear their colored jerseys or their white ones. The road team simply has to wear the opposite. If the home team chooses white, then the road team must wear colored jerseys. If the home team chooses to wear their colored jerseys, then the road team must wear white.
Fair enough. But if we're making a statement about this being our home ballpark too, why start out with unis that are generally recognized to be worn by the visiting team?
Understood. But do you agree that the home team usually wears it's dark colors (with the exception of Dallas)? If you do, then what message was sent Monday night. The Giants could have worn their "road" whites as well but instead, chose what is generally recognized as their home unis. The Jets should have done no less.
Maybe so. But I have a feeling I wasn't the only one that wondered about that. I might be one of the few who think they fckd up. Here's a what if for ya. Suppose they wore their throwbacks on monday night? Would you have cared?
Most teams wear their dark jerseys at home because the dark jerseys feature the team's primary color. I prefer the white jerseys, so I was a fan of the jersey choice for Monday night. I don't believe a message was sent.
The Jets wore their whites in the home opener last year. Rex also wears those converses on the first day of training camp. Superstition maybe?
Well, at least the morons are staying on their own board and not coming here posting retarded shit. I'm looking at you, Fin fans.
Here's where we disagree. I think a subliminal message was sent by the Giants on Sunday saying simply: "This is our house" by wearing their "Home" colors on their first game at their new stadium. How was the message responded to? The Jets wear their "Road" unis. Perhaps no message was sent. To some who are sensitive to the Jets being considered "tenants" for decades in "Giants" stadium then pitching a royal bitch about not playing the first regular season game in it, to wear "road unis" sends a subliminal message as well although not the one I think Woody spent $800M for.
What jerseys the Giants wore on Sunday had absolutely no bearing on what jerseys the Jets wore on Monday. I'm almost certain the Jets, like all other teams, had to report to the league what jerseys they would wear in their eight home games by some date in July. Some NFL teams, on their websites, will list what jerseys they will wear each week. Last summer I went on the Texans website to see what jerseys they were going to wear in their home games. They had it all mapped out months in advance. Why did the Jets wear white in Week 1? That I cannot answer. It may have been superstition on the part of Rex Ryan as ace_o_spades suggested.
