- ProFootballTalk.com - Posted by Michael David Smith on September 15, 2010 1:17 PM ET The Patriots had a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Bengals, and a lot of fans in New England decided to leave the stadium early, beat traffic, and get home in time to catch some of the late-afternoon games on TV. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady noticed, and he wasn't happy about it. The Boston Herald reports that Brady ripped into Patriots fans today, wondering aloud why they leave games early while fans of other teams don't. "The road environment is very different than our friendly home crowd, who when I looked up, half the stadium was gone when we were up 21 points early fourth quarter, which I wasn't so happy about," Brady said. "I don't think the Jets fans leave early. They're going to be loud the whole game. Communication is always an issue." If there's any player beloved enough among his team's fans that he can get away with that kind of criticism, it's Brady. So there probably won't be any type of fallout as far as the fans of New England are concerned, and if anything it might lead some of them to stick around a little longer. But my own opinion is that the folks who spend a small fortune on tickets so that Brady can earn a large fortune in salary can decide for themselves when they want to leave the stadium.
Tom is just throwing us a bouqet, our fans leave early plenty of games. if we had that big of a lead our Stadium would be empty too.
I'd do whatever it takes to beat the traffic out of that shithole. Boring game against a shitty team, really not much of a shock people would bolt.
Yeah, the last game before Monday. But I forgot, the sky is falling now and we've never done anything positive here.
Tom should try parking his car in one of the general lots at Foxboro sometime. But he does have a point. Gillette is not an unfriendly enough place for visiting teams, IMO, generally speaking. I think it has a lot to do with the actual design of the stadium. You're seeing that a lot now. Lucas Oil Stadium isn't as loud as the RCA Dome, Gillette's not as loud as the old stadium, etc. It may be more architectural than anything else. Any of you guys been to the new Meadowlands yet? Any different noise-wise?
the new arrowhead stadium should be the model for loudness. holy fug i left the TV on in my living room after the jets game when i was laying in bed and i could hear it through 3 sets of walls...on a moderate volume setting. you couldnt even hear the announcers
The real Patriots fans do stay the whole game, the only problem is that only 5% of Patriot fans are real fans.
Do you guys remember game 2 last year in Meadowlands? The stadium was rocking after Rex challenged the fans. That day, Tom had one of his worst performances due to noise. I'm sure he thought of that when he mentioned us.
Of course he did. Ravens game was very close, if not right on par with last years Pats game, in terms on crowd noise. It's just a shame the offense couldn't get it together and reward the fans like they did Week 2, '09.
Me too. It's hard to keep a 3 & 1/2 y.o. occupied for 4 hours when she just about knows what the fuck football is. The last time I left early before the RAMs game was the preseason game against the Gints that Penny had his wrist broken. Otherwise I still till the clock says 00
Weird that the Jets are so much on Brady's mind. He must have all 5 episodes of Hard Knocks on Tivo. Common Tommy, we both know Belichik is a boring shithead coach to work for, come play for a real coach....
I find it so stupid when fans leave so early, when they spend so much money on tickets...especially when the team is winning big If i spend as much money on tix as they say those NFL tickets are, i'm staying in that bitch until everybody else leaves.
