I agree, but again it's not like the Ravens put up 20 points on us. We still did fine on D considering Boldin had over 100 yards.
"Cromartie had two tackles and at times seemed tentative in that area, one of the knocks on the cornerback when he came over from San Diego." Are we still harping on this? If Cromartie was tentative about contact the refs wouldn't have raped him.
This kind of defensive mistake annoys me from Rex, who should know better and adjust. And Cro does need to listen to Thurman when he says get fucking mean on the field and don't turn it off until the game is over. He better start playing like a Jet and not a finesse bitch.
She fails to mention when he comes off the line he isn't jamming them and he's being pretty vaginal about it.
I say its true... his problem was that his hands were on the receiver when he got past him, down the field, had he been physical at the LOS getting a good jam instead of just running with his WR in coverage, this would not be rearing it's ugly head AGAIN.
Rex said almost exactly that in his presser. Cro needs to be more physical at the LOS and reroute his receiver, then release and let his athleticism take over. There's no need for him to be holding guys, he can make up most gaps in coverage. It sounds like Rex has a very good handle on the problem. I see this being fixed.
"It sounds like Rex has a very good handle on the problem. I see this being fixed." A lot easier to fix this than it is to fix the abortion on the offensive side of the ball. Sanchez looks like a complete mind fuck out there. He is regressing, instead of improving. And considering he is no All-Pro to begin with, there isn't much bottom left for him to plummet down to.
Rex does not have a handle on the bigger problem, one of the main culprits in our loss, is that Schotty's style is not compatible with what Rex wants to do. His system is overly complex, isn't aggressive, and tries to use smoke and mirrors instead of attacking. Basically its the complete opposite of the defense that Rex runs. Let's fix that problem first and then worry about Cro.
Rex specifically addressed the offensive woes in his presser. I wouldn't expect him to get into technical details regarding the offense, but he knows there's a problem that needs to be addressed.
Let's face facts - the Revis holdout hurt the team. Had Revis been in camp earlier, he would have been in shape and covered Boldin and then no way Boldin gets close to 100 yards receiving. In a one point game, that likely cost the Jets a win. Instead of worshiping the ground Revis walks on, he deserves some anger and some blame from Jets fans for missing camp and then signing a contract he could have signed in June. So we paid $16 million a year to have Revis shut down 35 year old Mason while Boldin was the offensive star in a game dominated by defense. Thanks Revis and S&F.
I'd like Rex to be a part of the offensive meetings and be way more vocal than he was last year. That's when Schotty got a reprieve from his biggest opponent (me) on the entire board. (Because it matters to Schotty and the jets that I approve ). He started to call a game with an identity, and it gave confidence to the whole offense
Look, Joey Harrington sucks. No one's doubting that. But to be perfectly honest, him turning into Joey Harrington would actually represent a slight improvement over what Sanchez did in the regular season last year (and that includes every single season in my opinion that Harrington had including his rookie year). It actually made me sick how optimistic we are with Sanchez after looking up Harrington's stats and made me wonder if Lions fans acted the same way after Harrington's rookie season only to see such an illustrious career. Not saying he's the next Harrington, just making an ugly observation now that I forced myself to look it up haha.
This game was the opposite product of what we saw last year. Instead of being a stupid rook he was an over thinking twitchy sophomore QB. You and I both knew this year he was going to have crappy games, I mean really crappy games. They should be different than last year, in the respect, I highly doubt he is going to have 4 games of 15-16 int's total. He is going to look overwhelmed at times and that is perfectly normal. Again, he is being asked to do a whole lot more then last year. The game will eventually slow down for him, this season. He will start going through his progressions properly, he will adjust the protections to the defense he is facing, and will allow plays to develop. This is all going to require patience on our part. I am pretty sure Sanchez isn't going to be a Peyton type guy. That said he does have a bright future and will probably be a just below elite guy, like a Phil Simms. It seemed to work out well for him.
I agree. And the funny thing is that Sanchez didn't win or lose the game, just like he is being asked to do. The sky isn't falling after one game, but no one expected for a muggy day that rained poop.
