Is this another one of those fucking years when the Patriots have two firsts, two seconds, two thirds, and two fourths??
That's really turned out great for them so far. They've drafted a slew of Pro Bowlers...like Vince Wilfork, Logan Mankins, and uh...hold on a second, let me look...hmm... -X-
Maroney was the Pats version of Dice-K. High expectations coming in, a pretty nice debut season before a maddening decline into mediocrity and injuries with the occasional flashes of promise still mixed in. And by the end you just fucking hate the guy because he always reminds you that he should have been better. Btw, Mayo was rookie of the year, Meriwether made pro bowl last year, and Warren's made a few too.
The 2006 draft produced Wes Welker, Randy Moss, and Gostkowski. The '07 draft was bad but produced Merriweather. 2008 produced Jerod Mayo and Wilhite but nothing else. But, 2009 and 2010 look to be awesome drafts. Patrick Chung, Ron Brace, Darius Butler, Sebastian Vollmer, Myron Pryor, Brandon Tate, and Julian Edelman are either starters or expected to be significant contributors. Last season's draft produced such promising players such as starters Devin McCourty and Zoltan Mesko and expected contributors Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, and Brandon Spikes.
Welker and Moss came on in 2007, not 2006. But yeah, I have to agree with you on that one. They traded a 2nd and 4th, I think, for Welker, and a 4th for Moss in what may have been the most lopsided trade in the last 20 years.
