Do we stick with Pouha/DeVito like last season? Look to the practice squad at Gilbert/Tevaseu? Look to trade for _____ (fill in the blank)*? *I didn't include Hayneswroth because of his displeasure playing NT.*
Matt Kroul. Sione Pouha stepped the fuck up in Jenkins' absence before and he'll do it again...but he'll need some help. I think we'll bring in Jarvis Green as a rotational end, while Kroul backs up Pouha.
didnt we have the best defense last season with Pouha? I'm not too corned about DL. CBs other than Revis are what I'm worried about
As things stand we use Pouha/Kroul at NT and leave Devito at RDE and we use more 2 and 4 man fronts than we would have with Jenkins available. The Jets do have a big body problem at this point with only a few guys over 300 lbs on the defensive side of the ball. What they do to fix that is not clear. Trading for Haynesworth is impractical due to the likely costs involved. The best case scenario that we could hope for is that the Skins would be willing to let him go for a 2nd round pick and twenty million dollars and I'm not sure the NFL would approve that deal even if Woody went for it. Twenty million dollars is a lot of cash.
Jarvis Green or Marques Douglas could be brought in. Also means Gholston could be seeing a lot more action. He actually looked like he played pretty well last night.
With Pitooey on IR we're really short big bodies at this point. No Marques Douglas this year and Jason Taylor and Vernon Gholston don't do that. In a 4 man front you can maybe have one of those guys put his hand on the ground but not in a 3 man. Marques Douglas might be the answer.
Reports are that a 2nd is the asking price, so you get your wish sans 20 mil. Not worth it, IMO, for a guy who doesn't even want to play the position, though Rex may be able to talk him into it considering he wouldn't be playing the 0-tech for half the snaps (25% b/c of alignment shifts and 25% b/c of being spelled). Still, a 2nd rounder is too much to pay for the risk that he'd be a giant douche....and the fact that we are not competing for a SB with our current O. A 3rd would be more beneficial. Man, what I wouldn't have given to trade him for someone useless like Sherry.
Moreover, Haynesworth has made it clear that he does not want to play NT. With that knowledge, it would not make sense to call Washington for him.
I can see them bringing people back since week 1 is now over. I just can believe that he's done for good. He was so excited to get back on the field.
This season couldn't have started any worse but the true coaching ability of Rex will come into play here. We are now going to find out just what kind of coach we have. It's time to take this team into a room and tell them that "Hard Knocks" is fuckin over and the bullshit of eating cheeseburgers in practice and not giving 100% on every play is not to be tollerated. I'm sure some will have a lot of shit to throw at me but i'm tired of Rex' mouth talking shit about a "soon to be world champion NY JETS" team that has more penalty yardage then offensive yardage.THIS TEAM HAS NO DICIPLINE AND IT STARTS WITH THAT FAT ASS HEAD COACH!
I think they'd have to bring Haynesworth in with the understanding that he was the RDE/RDT in the system and that if somebody else got hurt he'd have to adjust. You have to believe that Haynesworth would go for that to get out of Washington right now. He looked terminally unhappy on the sideline in the first game.
You do know you have an extreme lack of understanding about everything football right? Not just this one post.
...couldn't have said it better myself. I might have taken it a step further and insulted that ugly baby in his avatar though.
