I would think the extra weight would be a negative, but I seriously hope Jenkins can finish out this season. He's one of my favorite players.

Yeah, the extra weight is definitely a negative in this case.

Walking off under your own power doesn't mean anything when it comes to the ACL.

My sister tore hers and never had it fixed (I still think she's stupid) and she can get around fine. Once in a great while she'll have an issue.

And yes, for whoever stated, being larger would be a negative. You are likely to be less flexible at a larger size and the inertia is greater due to a larger mass. In the end meaning, there's a lot more pressure being put on muscles, ligaments, and such the larger you are.

I feel bad for the guy. He was so excited for this year. He's just one of those players (Pennington, Posluszny, etc) that are just injury prone.

After watching it a bunch of times I agree. It was nasty, but at least the knee was bent in a more natural direction. Usually ligament tears are the result of a lateral blow to the knees.

The x-factor here is that it was the surgically repaired knee. I believe if you took a perfectly healthy knee and bent it that way, it would only result in a sprain; God only knows how bad it was going into it though.

Jenkins also looked like he tweaked his ankle real good.

I joked about him going on IR by week 2 when he threw some verbal barbs at Brady a couple of weeks back, but no one likes to see guys get injured. I hope he recovers quickly and is back in the lineup for you guys soon.

Yeah, as much as I hate the Pats, Fins, Ravens, I do not wish any serious injury upon their players.

I'd rather see the Patriots lose to the Jets at 100% than beat them without key players. It takes away from it, you know?

Jenkins walked off under his own power last year in the Buffalo game. Made it six plays this year, damn. At least we know the D can play without him, they're more used to that than with him by now.

When I tore my ACL, had surgery, rehabbed, I then sprained my MCL months later.

I thought I tore it again because it hurt that badly plus I also heard pops, just like when I tore my ACL...

I was saying hope for a sprain @ the stadium last night...but I'm not optimistic...

This is starting out just like last season but worse...Pace out, Jenkins out, the offense sucks...

The D also lost a vocal leader after Jenkins went down. He would have straightened the guys up a little.

I said it two years ago before the draft. I said it THIS YEAR before the draft. Number one priority should be a HUGE D lineman to back up Piouha. Jenkins may be a great player, but when was the last time he finished a game, let alone a season?

At least this year Piouha has a year under his belt and did a decent job filling in last year. But Jenkins WTF?

Negative Nancy! but yeah same knee, bent back pretty awkwardly and he is a huge guy so it is natural to think that it could be the season and in that case maybe career :(

Jenks is done. The look on his face as he limped off the field told me all I needed to know. It's got to be the ACL.

I guess it was fun while it lasted.

Then again, the ESPN.com article I just read said a source that knows the injury said it's a 50-50 chance he is out for the season.

The Jenkins injury hurts but the Jets have been really, really lucky on the injury front for three years running. Everybody loses players, and by every objective measure the Jets have had a relatively small number of injuries.

Here's hoping it's a sprain and he's back by Halloween.
