Some messiness is expected the first couple of weeks. A few dumb penalties here and there, some busted plays, and so forth. But this team, to this point, lacks discipline everywhere. It's very disturbing. It's too early to panic, but its bothersome nonetheless.
Agree. We are handing the game to the ravens with bad penalties left and right (and a completely inneffictive offense). If we do this next week against the Pats its gonna get very ugly very fast.

Excellent defense....garbage offense. Now is the time to shut their mouth and play football. It was Cromartie who made the Miami Heat reference. But the offensive play calling in this game leaves a lot to be desired. During the preseason our offense had issues....they still do.
Game boiled down to 2 things: 3rd down efficiency and penalties. That's all that needs to be said. You cannot win a game playing these two aspects of the game they just did. The fact they lost by a point is a fucking miracle. They should have been killed.

I think it speaks to the "issues" off the field as well, this whole thing with the reporter speaks to an undisciplined regardless of how the reporter in question has absolutely no credibility.
The problem with 3rd down efficiency is that they were constantly 3rd and long in those situations. What was really annoying was the fact that they couldn't stretch the ball down the field. The playcalling this whole game was just mindblowing... And Shonn Greene fumbling twice and dropping passes is just unacceptable.
I'm not complaining about the refereeing, but I can't help thinking that we'll never get the benefit of any doubt with all the cockiness leading into this season. For Jets fans, that's pretty fun stuff to hear and read. Everyone else resents it. There. I said it and I'm glad.
No, not excellent defense. The penalties and 3rd down conversions were both horrible. I lost track of the 3rd and longs they converted, or we converted for them.
Its always the same fucking story, We either are disciplined vaginas that never make penalties but just choke at a constant or where a loudmouth great d that gets 84 penalties a game. I think we need to just face the facts, where always going to fail.
I was referring to both sides of the ball with the 3rd downs. As good as the defense played 8-12 or 9-13 or whatever is was in unacceptable. Greene obviously had a bad game.
That didnt seem to bother flacco and co. He threw the ball all over the place, and was very prepared for our mega blitz packages. Of course we penalized ourselves into next week, but he was better on 3rd down than the other two...
