Brian Fuentes to the Twins for a Minor league PTBNL. Saves Anaheim just under $2 million bucks. Becomes the 3 closer on the active roster for Minnesota(Matt Capps & Randy Flores). Twins really are lost without Nathan. And he'll be a stretch to play next year.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dod...gers-send-manny-ramirez-to-the-white-sox.html Manny Ramirez has officially become a member of the Chicago White Sox, to whom he was assigned on a straight waiver claim on Monday. Ramirez is on his way to join the White Sox in Cleveland, but isn’t expected to be there in time to play on Monday night, according to a baseball source. He is expected to be in the White Sox lineup on Tuesday. The White Sox didn’t send any players to the Dodgers, but are taking on the $3.8 million that Ramirez is due to earn over the remainder of the season. To replace Ramirez, the Dodgers recalled reliever Ramon Troncoso from triple-A Albuquerque.
I thought the Dodgers would spend some of the money they saved from Manny this off-season, but it's looking like that will go to the McCourts' divorce. Where's OJ when you need him?
Wow. Anyway, big showdown in San Francisco tonight. Ubaldo Jimenez and Tim Lincecum. Lincecum has struggled some lately. I'm taking the Rockies to win. Both teams in the wild card race. San Fran is 2 back of Philly and Colorado is 5 back. Tulowitzki will play tonight after missing a few days with a strained groin.
yeah sucked for me that they blew the game in the 8th today. Had picked them on streak for the cash. San Diego swept by the last place Diamondbacks (and second worst in the NL, behind only Pittsburgh). Not good.
I don't pay close attention to the D-Backs, but I'm pretty sure they've won quite a few games lately...which is really surprising.
pathetic I put on MLBN this morning and saw some crap from the White Sox-Red Sox game. At a play at the plate Carlos Quentin ran into the Red Sox catcher. The minor collision caused the ball to come out of the mitt and Quentin was safe. The next time Quentin batted he was drilled by John Lackey. Both teams were then given warnings. I don't understand it. This sport keeps becoming more and more sissified and pathetic each year.
After losing 10 in a row, the Padres sweep the Dodgers. Cory Luebke pitched a hell of a game tonight. HUGE series with the Giants starts tomorrow.
three teams separated by 1.5 games in NL West. In other news, Josh Johnson is out for the season. http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/09/13/1822996/marlins-shut-down-johnson-for.html
Wonder why the Marlins kept insisting on penciling him in as if he was starting. Time for King Felix to anchor my staff in my Fantasy playoffs.
Man, Dodgers have a lot of talent, but so much of it just stopped performing in the second half. Kemp, Loney, Ethier, Sherrill, Broxton... and of course the Russell Martin injury. Maybe the other guys need him. Anyway, now that the season is lost, they are now focused on playing spoiler against the Giants. They just won in San Francisco, while getting one hit, a hit which didn't actually help score the only run. Dodgers 6th Barry Zito pitching: Jamey Carroll : Strike looking, Ball, Carroll grounded out to pitcher. Reed Johnson : Strike looking, Foul, Ball, Foul, Johnson hit by pitch. Clayton Kershaw : Ball, Strike looking, Kershaw sacrificed to pitcher, Johnson to second. Rafael Furcal : Ball, Ball, Ball, Furcal walked. Andre Ethier : Ball, Strike swinging, Ball, Ball, Foul, Ethier walked, Johnson to third, Furcal to second. Casey Blake : Ball, Strike looking, Blake safe at first on 2nd baseman Uribe fielding error, Johnson scored, Furcal to third, Ethier to second. Kershaw with a 4 hit CGSO. Rare to see him getting through a game, the way he racks up pitches.
Sunday night baseball: Detroit@White Sox Detroit up 7-3, give up four in the bottom of the 9th. White Sox 9th Phil Coke pitching: A.J. Pierzynski : Pierzynski ground-rule doubled to left. Carlos Quentin : Ball, Foul, Strike swinging, Quentin flied out to deep center, Pierzynski to third Manny Ramirez hit for Mark Teahen. Manny Ramirez : Ball, Ball, Foul, Foul, Ball, Foul, Foul, Foul, Ramirez walked. Brent Morel : Ball, Morel singled to center, Pierzynski scored, Ramirez to second Andruw Jones hit for Brent Lillibridge. Andruw Jones : Ball, Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Jones walked, Ramirez to third, Morel to second Alejandro De Aza ran for Andruw Jones. Juan Pierre : Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Strike looking, Pierre singled to left, Ramirez scored, Morel to third, De Aza to second. Alexei Ramirez : Strike looking, Strike swinging, Foul, Ramirez reached on fielder's choice to shortstop, Morel scored, De Aza to third, Pierre out at second. Alex Rios : Strike looking, Strike looking, Rios hit by pitch, Ramirez to second. Paul Konerko : Ball, Ball, Ball, De Aza scored, Ramirez to third, Rios to second on wild pitch, Strike looking, Konerko walked. A.J. Pierzynski : Ball, Strike looking, Foul, Pierzynski grounded out to shortstop. End of Inning (4 Runs, 3 Hits, 0 Errors)
Detroit wins 9-7 in 11. The winning run was scored by Brandon Inge, who reached third on a strikeout. Swing and a miss on a wild pitch, then the catcher's throw to first goes awry, and Inge keeps going and makes third base.
What'll the Braves do without Bobby Cox? I'm not even a Braves fan and even I'll miss seeing the guy out there in the dugout. Utmost respect for him.
