I find it hard to believe Tanny wouldn't have built in a no hold out clause in Revis' contract this time around.

If he didn't, then it was on purpose and he won't deal with the agents and Revis again. Traded if he holds out again.

True. King may talk out of his cakehole when giving opinions. But quoting someone is not something I would think he lies about.

They had a holdout clause on his first contract, but what good did that do.

    MEvi$ is an A$$!

You must have one hell of a grip to pull something like that out of your ass.

if he holds out in two years, the Jets will enact the 7 year contract and let him rot for the next 5 years. I'm rather certain Revis wants to get paid more than simply the $30 million he stands to make over the next two years, so the only way for him to do that is actually play out the four years as is. if he didn't have any leverage with 3 years left on his contract, he will have even less with 5 years.

unless I am mistaken about these things, I am not worried one bit.

He had no leverage and got paid more than Aso for the next 2 years. After he collects, he will likely hold out with no leverage again.

I'm not worried about it right now, but I won't be surprised when he holds again after collecting. I can see the "only making 6.5 million" articles already.

If this gives Revis an incentive to play his ass off in the next 2 years then I have no problems.

he can hold out, and he could also risk ending his NFL career if he does so. would that $36 million he will get really be all he wants to ever get paid again in the NFL? playing the four years is his only viable option, unless he expects the Jets to simply jettison him after the two years.

I'm not saying it isn't possible he will, just that it appears to be the dumbest thing he could possibly do.

Here's the text from King's MMQB, which he told everyone to read:

So basically King thinks this deal is a bandaid deal until the Jets can rework a legit long-term solution when/if the owners and the NFLPA can finalize a new CBA.

With an $18 million roster bonus on the table, I'm beginning to think that neither side of this deal was committed to seeing Revis play out all 4/7 years of it.

a Super Bowl in the next two seasons could certainly change the desperation the Jets have to work with him and maybe more likely to call his bluff and let him sit for the following 5 years.

So you're basing your statement on something that has not happened, but could happen. That doesn't seem like you.

I do agree that would probably change things.

Revis won't hold out in 2012 because there won't be a corner making $16 mil a year. That's why we're paying Revis $32 mil over the next two seasons. Then we can make him the highest paid corner in the league after the new CBA agreement is reached.
