The Ravens have a Top 3 defense and a solid offense. I'm not sure why everyone here loses their shit whenever someone says the Ravens are brtter.
If Ed Reed is ever healthy, I'd agree with his assessment. And right now, their QB is ahead of ours. And Ray Rice is going to be a stud.
I agree. Are the Jets really THAT good that they deserve to be heavy favorites in every game this year??
Ummmm..Because we have the Top 1 defense, and a pretty solid offense ? P.S...we have new guy at LG..however as of yesterday I don't think Balt was sure who was going to play RT .... so they may be juggling more than one spot against a team that blitzes from everywhere...
though I am not a carton fan at all, I do catch this show quite often and boomer is by no means a Jets hater. He normally talks up the Jets and openly roots for them. The ravens have a good team and this will be a big test for the Jets. Boomer just thinks the ravens will win and I do not.
Boomer and Carton will be on MSG starting tomorrow. I don't listen to them much but I'm expecting Boomer to be Francesa the 2nd.
I can't take Carton during the football season. He's a moron. During the baseball season it's at least entertaining but it's not during the football season. I never thought Boomer was Anti-Jets. I think he keeps it pretty real.
It's funny because when Boomer left the Bengals I remember him in Sports Illustrated being anti-Cincinnati. He finished his career on a high note with them and now he's sour on the Jets. Not our fault you didn't play good ball here.
Boomer was 8-8, 6-10, 3-13 as Jets QB, lol. Of course, our worst season ever came the year following his departure with Neil O'Donnell, Glenn Foley, and Frank Reich at the helm.
OMG they are not even in the same school of thoughts, let alone the same class. Francesa is just as bitter as they come. Jets could win the SB and Francesa will find a way to talk them down. Boomer can actually be pretty reasonable.
The Ravens aren't a top 3 defense at this point. Their NT is a really good journeyman who is a bit undersized and aging now and fairly likely to decline. One of their inside linebackers is a legend who is 35 and very likely to decline now, still very good but not the dominant force he used to be. The other inside linebacker is an unproven 24 year old, the second young player they've tried at the position since Bart Scott left. The safeties are ok but nothing special with Ed Reed not ballhawking back there until game 6 or so, if then. So the middle of the defense is either aging, suspect or average. Then you have the problem at cornerback on top of that with Foxworth out for the season. If the Ravens avoid declines by Ray Lewis and Kelly Gregg they might be a top 10 to 12 defense, but they could just as easily slide down to the middle of the pack. Baltimore is going to have to win with their offense this season.
Tell me three things and I'll give you one: 1. Can Shonn Greene stay on the field for 20+ carries? 2. Is Sanchez good to go and ready to take what the defense gives him? 3. Is LG a problem? If the answers are yes, yes, no then I think the Jets 27, Ravens 13. If number 1 is no or 3 is yes then I think we could be in for a long game. Otherwise it'll be a toss-up that comes down to the last drive or two.
