This is just a bunch of H8erade ...there are penalties for him holding out. All I see here is a bunch of Haters looking for anything to continue hating on Revis, it's actually sad. We're on a SB run, have the #1 D in the League with the # CB in the NFL and you're still not happy and are worrying about something that may or maynot happen in 4 years... That's actually pathetic.
I saw the clip where MEvi$ does say they will be in the same situation in two years if he continues to play at the same level. King is correct in this one. ------- Asked by Sports Illustrated’s Peter King whether he would hold out again after the first two years of this deal, Revis replied, "That's a great question. If I continue to play ball like I usually do, we'll probably be back at that same position we were this year." --------
Is this timeline affected by next season's lockout? I'm assuming they're not getting paid when the owners don't let them work.
Because revis said he'd sit out again if he plays great for the next two seasons? Shooting the messenger.
Just when I thought Revis could be a bigger asshole. This guy really does think his name is Revis Christ. I hope he really didn't say that. We know the guy has no character and is as selfish a player as the day is long but to say that after just signing a contract...he has to be dumber than dirt.
Life after 2010/11 = easy street for Green Lantern. Won't matter who holds out after a Super Bowl run. Won't care about 2012 if they win in 2010/11...will still be too numb to worry about it.
this. bleacher report is nothing more than jets fans throwing their thoughts with almost no true sources online.
I'm amazed by the people who don't want to believe the obvious, choosing to shoot the messenger. It is now clear that Revis reached his midnight deal because the jets promised him 2 years as the highest paid corner. He didn't care about the rest of the deal because he had no intention of honoring it. There is a reason that the deal is front loaded, and we all can see what it is. He will take his 2 years at 16 mil, then hold out. The jets will add the penalty years onto his contract, making it a 5 year deal, and he won't report. The first year he doesn't report will cost him his 6.5 million salary for that year, then the Jets will likely cave and trade him. Somebody will give him his 16 million for the next season, which will be more that the 13m he would have earned for playing 2 years with the Jets. The solution to this is obvious, at the end of this year we must dump Revis unless we are prepared to make him the highest paid corner every year for his career. He signed to a front loaded deal coming out of college, then refused to honor the back end. He is doing it again now. The jets should not let themselves be played like fools. We are a team built to win right now, if we do great, win and then dump him. If we don't win, we aren't getting a better shot than now, dump him. You can hate Peter King all you like, you can stick you fingers in your ears, you can say "I'll worry about 2012 when it arrives", but the bottom line is Revis learned one lesson from S. Gilbert, this is a business. If the team gets to renegotaite with you whenever it wants, with a threat of cutting you, you have to do the exact same thing in reverse. Every year is a new deal, or threaten not to play.
This is the freaking truth. Revis is just a damn greedy mercenary. Yeah its a business, but there are actually players that don't operate like Michael Crabgreed and Revis.
This. Also, while I happen to think Peter king is being sincere in his reporting, I also doubt that Revis holds out again in 2012.
Wow. I didn't think that anyone could come up with a gayer nickname than "Mevi$" but you made it happen.
