Trent Richardson was a beast, I thought he was the best back from that class two years ago. So nasty, reminds me of Charles Scott (thought Richardson doesnt run as high as scott does), non stop motor always gets yards after cotact

Haha, Charles Scott with about half a second shaved off his 40.

As for Bama guys in general, I have four Tide underclassmen ranked right now as the #2 guy at their positions, and I think all but one have a chance to move up to #1. Dareus is a freak, and having him as #2 behind Quinn is unfair because they are destined for completely different situations. Jones is behind only Green, Barron is tied with Rahim Moore behind Darren McDaniel, and Hightower is stuck behind Greg Jones. Am I buying a bit too much into that defense, or should I keep my faith in the youngsters? I just love what Saban does on that side of the ball and in terms of developing NFL talent.

Some believe it was a toss up between him and Bryce Brown. Even before Trent committed, I thought he was better because he played in Florida while Bryce Brown came from Kansas.

Trent is actually from my area, he won both the Florida weight lifting title(380 bench, 325 clean and jerk) and 100m(10.5) for his weight class(219). He had 2 400 yard games in HS, the first breaking the old record held by fellow Escambia Grad Emmit Smith.

Even though Mark Ingram is the starter, most say Trent is the better talent. I can't wait to see the results this year with the carries split 55/45 between the 2...

I agree with Quinn being in front of Dareus, Saban went after Quinn hard out of HS, he even visited him after Quinn had a tumor removed. Dareus is a freak though, he collected 18 sacks in 2 scrimmages this past spring. Even though scrimmages are used for situation spots at times, you still got to be impressed by that.

Julio has limitless potential, hopefully most will not take his sophomore season as the gospel, there were a lot of things that contributed to his down season that many don't know. The first thing people will tell you about Julio is his blocking, he is a very tenacious blocker who doesn't stop til the play is over. He is a physical freak, faster than people give him credit for, he'll light up the combine. He has a touch of "Braylon Edwards" though, will make the tough catches, but drops some easy ones. I'd keep him behind Green unless something drastically changes this season.

I think Barron is a tad overrated, he did perform great at times, but still has ways to go. His ball skills are amazing, many of his PBUs and INTs were eyepopping, one break up against Mississippi State was downright incredible. He does bite on the play action more than he should, which allowed Auburn to get ahead of Bama in the Iron Bowl early. He'll be a good SS, Saban's D doesn't field FS and SS, just safety 1 and safety 2, the positions not differing a whole lot. This past season, Bama started what many would classify as 2 SS in Woodall and Barron.

Hightower was poised for a good season until he was injured in the Arkansas game, talk was he was gonna be used in a pass rushing role on 3rd downs because he was one of the team's best pass rushers, despite playing ILB. Rolando McClain said he was impressed with him physically and mentally, it allowed McClain to be more free in the '08 season because Hightower was game ready as a true freshman. It's been said that he's similar to McClain, only better in pass coverage.

Keep an eye out for OLB Courtney Upshaw, he came on late last year, had a good game against Texas. He is Saban's Jack LB, he bulked up this offseason and still has his speed. This might be the year Saban gets what he's wanted out of the Jack linebacker position...

You're in the right place. Welcome aboard.

I'm excited to see the Tide's secondary. With Kirkpatrick, Milliner, and Scott at corner and Lester and Barron at safety - it'll be pretty fun to watch.

Do you know how much PT Phelon Jones will get?

I think South Carolina and Alabama will have the best secondaries in the SEC.

I'm coming to three games this season: UGA, Bama, and @Clemson. Hopefully Mark Ingram doesn't win the Heisman against us again.

    He won't, but Richardson might.

I have a feeling that both of Alabama's backs will destroy Carolina's defense.

Lots of talent on that secondary, if it clicks for everybody, it will be a no fly zone. Only one I'm really worried about is Lester, not that he's not good, but Robby Green had that job on lock before being ruled ineligible. He came in during a lot of Nickle and Dime packages last year and did well.

John Fulton is another 2 watch, him and Milliner are fighting really hard for the last DB spot.

I don't think Phelon will get a whole lot of PT, there hasn't been a bunch of positive news out of camp, it been said that "he has been beaten like he stole something" by some WRs. But you never know, Mark Barron didn't win the safety job till fall camp, so things can change.

Carolina's secondary is really good, Gilmore is one of the most talented freshman freshman I saw last year, wish Saban could've gotten him out of SC. That safety, who's name escapes me, is very good too.

Hopefully Bama won't have to rely on Ingram again, I want to see the passing game open up more, receivers like Julio Jones and Marquis Maze go to waste sometimes. But with Sc bringing back the same secondary, it might be tough.

But then again, I won't complain if Ingram walks away with a 10.3 average again:smile:

Ingram did say the 2nd year in the system helped him a whole lot. He also said Trent was more along as a player than he was in his. So you might be right...

We definitely need to address the front 7 in this draft. I'm a big fan of Von Miller but he probably won't last to us since we'll be drafting 32nd!

Based on where we'll be drafting if Von Miller is available we better run to the podium. He's a perfect fit in our defense.

I like the K pick as well at the end. Byrum is clutch and consistent and I don't think I need to go on about the Jets history with kicking issues.

My Mock is a little outdated, almost 3 months ago.

I'm still in favor of going after a 3-4 OLB.

If the Jets have an excellent year, Miller and Ayers should be long gone.

I'm may be in the minority, IMO, Folk is going to have a great season.

I'm not as high draftng a Safety witn Pool, Leonard, Ighedbo and even Lowery.

I really believe the Jets may be looking at another versatile, 4 down RB to join Greene and LT.

Oline Oline Oline my man . Let's not forget that when the 2nd round comes if theres a stud there at OG or OT we should take em. We need to ensure Sanchez has a solid line for years . But thats my opinion .

It'd be nice to grab a right tackle at the back end of the first round, but we need to see how things play out this year first.

If Matt Slauson overachieves, then Ducasse may be moved to right tackle.

I've been saying this since last off-season - the Jets need to draft another big time running back to pair with Greene.

I'm keeping a close on these five players:

    1. VT's Ryan Williams
    2. Cal's Shane Vereen
    3. K-State's Daniel Thomas
    4. Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray
    5. Ohio State's Brandon Saine

*I put Daniel Thomas' name in bold because he's going to become a household name before the end of the season...this year's Toby Gerhart.

It'll be interesting to see how McKnight develops. He's got unbelievable talent and potential, but his head may never be right. If the coaching staff decides to move on, Noel Devine or JaQuizz Rodgers would be nice additions.

At least half of those needs are probably going to get filled before the draft. Just a guess based on experience.
