Revis will fly up to New Jersey Monday to sign the contract. General manager Mike Tannenbaum later confirmed that Ryan flew down to Florida along with owner Woody Johnson to meet with Revis, his mother Diana Gilbert and his uncle Sean Gilbert. “That happened pretty quick,” general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. “We had countless meetings, countless meals, countless Roscoe Diners… We just felt like it was not going to get done in the traditional dynamic. It happened real quick. It was a really important step to get Sean, Diana, Darrelle, Rex and Woody together. Again we talked all day (Sunday). Finally we were able to nudge it across the line. There’s no question that without that step, I doubt we’d be sitting where we are right now." Steve.... I think Tanny had to be in Florham park, with all the roster cuts/moves juggling of the roster and the fact he was persona non grata. It's cool anyway we are just haggling over minor details. It got done that is the big thing.....wooohooo I am going to overturn cars and light shit on fire....brb.
Basically, it reminds me of one of the great scenes ever in "The Outlaw Josie Wales": A little long but it gets to the point..
Interesting indeed. All this makes it sound like the Jets had already laid out their best 'take it or leave it' deal or two on the table, and all that was needed was Revis to be nudged over the line and accepting a deal, which would explain why the 2 cockboy agents weren't needed to hammer out anything money-wise. The particulars of the deal(s) were already out there for Darrelle to decide upon.
I think its cool that the business side was left out. When its the player surrounded by his closest family advisers, and the Jets send the Head Coach and the owner, you know its cards on the table "how much you mean to us" kind of conversations. What a great ending to a unfortunate situation.
this really is going to be a hell of an episode. From all this revis stuff, and what the camera's did and didn't get on film. To the Richardson cut (and rumored re-signing). Definitely going to be a lot of drama, and hopefully its going to all work out for hte best. It'll definitely be interesting to say the least
When I first heard this story, that JUMPED out at me. As a lawyer, I so hate to say this, but lawyers tend to unnecessarily complicate and fuck shit up.
dunno if anybody posted this, but HBO Hardknocks crew went with Rex Ryan to Florida. (according to wfan)
Anyone have links to download the whole season in HD? I want to free up space on my DVR and have this to watch later in the year.
Yo y'all, I heard Steve Sabol on WFAN last week and he said rough film of HardKnocks is sent to England (or Istambul) on like Saturday night so Revis deal may not be included. I hope I'm wrong and we get to see him and his unkle Sean sign on the dotted line while Rex Woody pound one out with joy. LOL JETS! JETS! JETS!
Yeah, should be a heck of a Finale. It will be hard to fit it all into an hour episode. Don't forget the Jets played the Giants on Monday night and footage of that game was on that Wednesday's episode.
Yeah this episode especially, might be a good one to keep on the dvr. For those not so happy moments. Plus a poster size print of your ice cream modeling gig. Lol
