Only problem with that thought is that we could end up 2-4 at the bye without our defense ever getting torched. By the time we really lose because of shitty D (as opposed to shitty O) it may be too late
Plus, the Redskins threw in a second round pick. And, at the time Portis was one of the top three picks backs in the league and was young.
Mis-interpreted on my part. I agree although if we never had Revis and we went into the season with Cro and Wilson (who I think is going to be a good one) I would be confident. But now that we have been spoiled by Revis we are sure to see the big names like moss, marshall, and others score on us. Revis shuts them down cro and wilson hope to contain them.
Good to see you are OK IMHO he will never play for us again I think after this season some team who has fallen just short of getting to the SB & thinks that they are 1 DBF player away from getting there next season (if there is one) will trade for him & be willing to meet his Aso like contract demands. The downside of that will be is the rest of the league will know we have to move him so his trade value will decrease considerably
How will we need to move him ? Hes under contract for 3 years we dont need to do shit. And I really dont think he plans on holding out for 3 years, it would kill his career. Not to mention if he does hell be paying a whopping 18 million dollar fine. The jets have no reason for desperation
So then we have a malcontent playing out his contract on the team. I'd prefer to cash in and get something for him rather than have him/his agents polluting the locker room.
Much more likely would be he caves in signs to a more reasonable contract and plays for the jets until he becomes an UFA. Or ends up signing a longer term deal with the team. Eitherway the odds of him being done as a jet are incredibly slim, and if he is the trade terms will be most favorable
I honestly think that he'll be here before Monday night. The Jets hold all the cards here. If I had to guess Tanny probably said something like this "Here are your options, play out your current contract, sign the $120 Million contract extension we offered, or sit out for the next three years, then see if you get a max deal after 3 years removed from the NFL b/c we will not trade or release you." I think Tanny and the Jets can set a great precedence here by not folding. If Tanny said something remotely close to that, then the pressure is on Revis. Yes he is the best cb in the league, but staring down 3 years of not playing may be motivation to get back on the field.
Cromartie could surprise us all, he definitely surprised me in preseason. I know, no one is Revis but with the upgrades we have other places we could be fine. Pass rushing could be key here.
So far, seems like 2/3's think he'll be there before or shortly after Week 1. The other 1/3 thinks he played his last game as a Jet. Yup, that kinda sums up the demographic on TGG!
I agree. The fan base has already pretty much turned on him. The FO appears to be tired of negotiating any further. I think the bridge would be burned.
All they have to do is look at the roadmap to ruin these two clowns have provided to their most high profile clients. Unless that article about them paying Jackson are true, Jackson and Revis stand to lose more money than any of us posting here could ever hope to make in a lifetime.
The Jets have been trying to model themselves like the Yankees. Lesson one for Tanny was how to destroy a high powered agent when they make problems for your organization otherwise known as "the Scott Boras plan" who the Yankess now refuse to deal with and A Rod just fired...
This isn't the first time this has happened in the NFL. But if he leaves, the church closes and we forget him. He'd would go to an NFC West team.
I still say he signs either this week or sometime within the first three weeks of the season. Forgetting about what's best for the Jets for a minute, what most people continue to miss is that it simply Is NOT in the best interest of Revis to sit out the year. Again, if he was going to become a free-agent next offseason, things would be very different. With three years left of being tied to the Jets, he just doesn't have any leverage.
His only leverage is if the Jets are getting burned in the secondary and rush to sign him but I think Woody is such a hard ass he'd sacrifice the season not to give in to him, which I think I would do too... just to let him know who's really in charge
That's correct. If the Jets' secondary is getting burned, things can change drastically. But as of today, I just don't see how he has any quantifiable leverage.
