What are the odds Revis plays for the Jets again?

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by Cman69, Sep 4, 2010.

?

When will Revis play this season?

  1. He'll be here before week 1

    33.8%
  2. Someone will budge after holding out for a few regular season games

    31.6%
  3. He comes back late this season/in time for the playoffs

    1.7%
  4. I think he sits out all season, then signs with Jets afterwards

    4.3%
  5. He misses this season, and his Jets career is over.

    28.6%

I know, this is gonna be the thread that everybody will love to hate but the reality is staring us in the face. Revis just might not play for the Jets. Not just this season, but in the future as well. Bad blood I'm sure is building with each passing week and once the real season begins, I would imagine there's gonna be a certain amount of resentment by the players as well as the Revis camp. I don't see this ending well for either side as I'm thinking the remaining years on the Revis contract will be either upheld and Revis possibly sits until 2012 or arbitration. The Jets and Revis have backed themselves into corners that they can't seem to break out from. Revis's agents had better think about how well the Vince Jackson negotiations are going as it seems both of their high profile clients are the only ones not getting paid.

To the point of the thread.. What are the odds of Revis ever playing for the Jets again..?

Really don't know as of right now.

We'll all have a much better idea after the Ravens game. If Revis isn't in the lineup, the chances could then become slim to none.

The Jets hold the leverage. It a matter of seeing when Revis' camp blinks.

If he doesn't blink and sits the year, he's gone.

If he misses a couple of games, and then agrees to a non rediculous deal, then he'll stay here.

    That's an awesome .gif

And right now I'd say the odds are 85/15. Each day after Monday Night Football against the Ravens those go down 5%. IMO

I asked the magic 8- ball and came up with:

    ● Concentrate and ask again

So I really thought and prayed to Revis Christ himself and got:

    ● Better not tell you now

Which echo's my real answer..... I can not honestly say. I hope he does but it isn't looking so hot.

Revis does not become a FA in 2012 if he sits. Revis has three years of service left on his contract, not three fiscal years. Revis either plays for the Jets for atleast three more years, or gets traded. Of course, we wouldn't be cutting him.

To answer your qustion, Revis will play for the Jets this year. That's my opinion of course. Revis has to realize that by sitting out the season, he is simply losing money. If he sits, he loses a year worth of all-pro caliber season, $1mil in salary, and still left with three years on his contract at the end of it.

Jets need Revis this year themselves. Lets be hones, if we want to win a super bowl, we have to have him. Maybe we reach playoffs without him, but if we face Manning in the AFCCG again, know this that Manning will pick apart a rookie corner, or at least do enough to win the game for him. So Revis could be the difference between making the playoffs and making/winning the super bowl.

So the situation is, we both need each other, why not change our positions on the negotiations? Jets should up the offer to $132 mil over 10 years with huge signing bonus. That should seem like a victory for Revis and his cunt agents. If Revis was to sign $122mil deal reported month ago, he would have done so a month ago.

I think this is the closest thing to correct right now.

Although I think its more that the odds go down 5% every single game that goes by without him suiting up, as opposed to daily. because then you would be saying he is never suiting up as a jet again after 17 days, or somewhere around week 3. Which to me is premature.

by dropping it 5% a week you then have 17 weeks, or sometime around the superbowl to sign, which essentially means he would have sat the entire season.

100% that he will play for the Jets again. What is this idiot going to do, sit out 3 prime seasons of his career and make no money? No way. And the Jets don't seem like they're going to break on this one, they're going to hold his feet to the fire. Eventually they'll come to some sort of agreement. It's not like he's going to be making any money with his music "career" that he has going. Many of us heard him rap, and he obviously sucks. Football is all he has. He has a football contract with the Jets for 3 years. Unless he plans on sitting around playing video games with that retarded manager of his for the next 3 years, he has to play for the Jets.

It's not like some team is going to trade for him and give the Jets equal value, which is going to be A LOT, and then give him a 160 million dollar contract on top of it, knowing the predicament the Jets are in. They'd try to lowball Tanny, which isn't going to fly. Plus how many teams just have that kind of money and cap space just laying around to add to the roster out of the blue?

If the Jets win early, they'll have all the leverage. If they trip up early.... Revis gains some leverage. Kinda shitty, but there it is.

I voted "He'll be here in time for week 1".....because if I believe anything else....i might as well write Revis off for the season.

I'm not prepared to do that yet.

^The sitting out three years comments are crazy. Revis will not become a FA if he sits for three years. He has a contract in place that gives the Jets the rights for Revis' services for three more season. Sitting one out just prolongs the contract.

The body of my original thread said "don't post in this thread, if you will i will ban you, try and test me." But I put a vBookie event instead of a poll, so I just put the less cool "Don't reply."

The poll results are a little messed up because I added another option and wanted to put it in chronological order.
