Vlad and Mcknight will make the 53, but neither will dress anytime soon. Both are extremely raw and basically need a year to redshirt
With all the talk about lack of depth, do you think they can red shirt two guys like that? I didn't think their was any way our 4th round pick would get cut, but the kid has done a lot to get himself cut.
Jets Related Twitter Posts Yeah this was his next tweet. "Rex says mcknight "is going to make this team. I'm just not going to play him." #nfl #Jets" Rex just trying to show him he's pissed I guess.
I would be all for cutting him if he didn't show that unique speed and burst in space. I think he has the ability to be a big time weapon but probably not anytime soon. Mcknight just basically needs be broken down and build back up from scratch. With that being said if he has a bad attitude and he's not working hard then cutting him is probably an option. Vlad hss been awful. He looks completely lost and overwhelmed on the field. If he was a 4th round pick I would cut him but since he's a 2nd round pick he's not going anywhere. I wonder if the Jets will try to get either of these guys on the IR after the season starts. In an ideal world, Vlad would start at right tackle next year and Mcknight would take over for Tomlinson.
I actually don't mind that at all. We're not going to roll with 2 backs and one of the other guys likely gets a chance in the first 4 weeks. Joe's not ready yet.
Yeah, I think that was the idea when they took him. Let's be honest, our 3rd back isn't getting much work this year either way. Let him develop.
I expected Vlad to be a project, not McKnight. Tanny needs to understand that guys like Leon Washington don't grow on trees. I think he thought that he could replace LW with another quick, undersized and undervalued back. Ironically he's getting outplayed by a USC backup.
How many times do we have to go over this? Tomlinson was brought in to be our 2nd back. Last year, Leon was our 2nd back to start the season, and Greene was brought in as the developmental project who would eventually take over for Jones. He was inactive nearly every game until Leon got hurt, at which point he was pressed into action and eventually performed brilliantly. With Leon's injury and his contractual headaches (thank you Alvin the Shitmunk), Tomlinson was brought in as the #2 and Leon became trade bait. McKnight was drafted to eventually take over for Tomlinson in a year or so, and possibly return punts in the meantime. His fumbles mean that he'll have to hang on to the ball in practice before he even sees the field, but he was certainly not supposed to be an immediate contributor on offense. The only way he was going to see much time on offense is if there was an injury. His preseason has sucked, but nobody was expecting him to be immediately ready. How many 4th round backs actually came in and immediately contributed last year? Mike Goodson 22 carries 49 yards Andre Brown IR Gartrell Johnson 13 carries 43 yards He's a prospect. He's had a terrible preseason, and he has issues he needs to work on. That's why he was a 4th round pick.
McKnight has the physical tools to play, he just needs the mental ones. We'll see if he develops them or not but with the way we saw Holmes keep around him on Hard Knocks we know the support and leadership is there, if only for this season. It's on him now to develop. Hopefully he can get it in his head how to be a pro. At this point, I'm wondering what the Jets saw in Ducasse to give him a second round grade. He has great athleticism but he looks like much more of a project than you would take in the second. Hopefully it's just the position switch that has his head spinning. If the Jets decide to give him more work at the RT spot then I think it would probably turn out better for him. Rex's stance last season was that he'll keep the talented players, at least until he finds better talent at other needs. We can afford the two spots for McKnight and Ducasse without hurting the team at strong positions, but it makes things more difficult for guys who made the roster based on their skills more than the team needs. Guys like Cumberland will be even more difficult to justify keeping on the roster if a player at a bigger need position that could help this team hits the waiver wire.
The always logical/sensical A_Cromartie31 last night... 1)"Ok either someone is playing games or my car jus got stolen from me." 2)"Well if someone did I will b getting a brand new one." 3)"Damn I found it I was abt to report it stolen. I was going to get the new 750. Oh well I will trade it n very soon." 4)"Made think of Jersey Grove the movie I watched it the other day lol." 5)"Someone was playing a joke and moved my car on the opposite side of the facility." This doesn't happen on a certain island. First of all, they probably don't allow shitty movies like Jersey Grove to play on that island. And they probably don't brag about buying 750's when they were too broke to pay child support a minute ago. But I do like how his instinct was that someone was playing a joke 1st, and it was stolen 2nd. NEED those instincts when you're stepping up for the island.
The guy is clearly a moron. When they did that feature on him for the preseason game last week he was bragging about how he was a stud in HS. The guy just doesn't get it, I just hope he can play.
