i am really sick and tired of hearing him talk.he wasnt that great of a QB.he won ONE stinking Super Bowl 40 years ago.hell the NFL wasnt really the NFL then.but every year here he is with his shorts hiked up over his monkey tits saying "i think the Jets have a chance to be special this year". REALLY? REALLY JOE?? he has been saying that since the ken o'brien days.how about taking your pantyhose wearing candy ass to the next senior citizen center and let me get high with your older daughter and have at your young daughter
Then what was it back then? Technically Namath was in the AFL at the time. The merger was announced in the spring of 1966 with the two leagues officially becoming one in 1970.
Joe Namath can pretty much say whatever the hell he wants. One "stinking" Super Bowl? That's the only "stinking" SB this franchise has won so far.
dude, you need to learn some FUCKING RESPECT!!!!! 40 + years and namath is still the face of this franchise. he can do whatever he wants. so you say he wasnt that great???? he was the first guy to EVER throw for 4,000 yards in a season, and that was in a 14 game season, while throwing 28 td's. he also has our only super bowl win. and he probaly banged your mom, and a lot of other peoples mom!!!!!!!
Namath gave me an autograph, when I was a little kid, on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. He had a full length fur on. The man is a Jet God.
And the NFL still wouldn't be the NFL we have today if it wasn't for Joe Willy and the jets ... Hop up off of his nuts, he's a legend
Lets see he was just named the 100th greatest NFL player EVER. Besides others from that same SB winning team I bet there will NOT be another NYJ player given the honor of being one of the NFLs top 100. That also says a awful lot of our players over the 50 year history of this team.
Sacrilege. Turn in your Jets fan card at the door and leave. (just kidding, barely) Did you see the respect he had when he was speaking at the Jets TC and in meetings. It was like E.F. Hutton talking. And the man still cares so much for this franchise after so long that he was willilng to stand all day in the rain to watch a practice while his daughter wanted to leave. And he was picking up things that were important for Sanchez' development- like the timing with his receivers because they weren't running at game speed in practice. One thing - if you didn't see him play - and I'm guessing you didn't - then your opinion of how good he was or wasn't holds no value.
I'm sick of Joe Namath, I do think he was a great QB but I just don't give a shit about him now and I certainly don't need to see him around the present day Jets. I respect his past not his present.
When your a Jet your a Jet for life! Until the Jets win another Super bowl, Joe Willie is the franchise!
Namath was the most important figure in getting the AFL respect back before the merger. He was a guy that led on the field, created a persona off the field, and threw for over 4000 yards in a season . He played his entire career on horrible knees and has pedestrian numbers compared to other elite hof qbs, but his impact on the game can not be measured. SBIII stands out not because it was the jets it stands out because a brash young QB predicted a win and the team backed it up against an NFL squad looked at as superior. He was critical in creating the NFL as we know it today. If he wants to talk I say pay attention.
17a, someday your grandkids will be making a thread on tgg saying "get sanchez outa here.....all he did was win 3 SBs 30 years ago"
Those loyal Pats fans are already saying that about Brady: "He haaasn't won a Gad Daamn Super Bowl for 5 yeeeaas now. Fak him."
