I don't understand why Brunell is given the automatic priority as a shoe in for number two and Clemens get forced to the 3rd spot or even out of the franchise had he not accepted a cut. Brunell sucks. He has always sucked. If they wanted him to come in here just to have a gray haired voice amongst youngin's why can't he be that voice at the number 3 spot?? Clemens is not that good, and I have never been a fan of the guy. But hell, he is certainly better than Brunell and he has put up with a lot of shit with this organization that should give him a fair shot at back-up position.

Once that was done, they couldn't have Clemens making the same amount of money as the #3 and they weren't gonna make him the two because of his history. Ergo, Clemens takes the paycut to be the three, Brunell gets annointed #2 which is good PR if not bad football acumen. They needed to make a public statement to the fans and to Sanchize to mature and they're paying Brunell Clemens' salary to get it done.
