Why did Hellen Keller crash her car? Because she is a woman. Jason Taylor is a woman. Jason Taylor cannot drive.
Not to be a jackass but I'm not going to take it as a given that pro football focus is right and Fanecca was the worst pass blocker in the league last year. Every informed observer saw that he was average at best but whether he was number 44 or number 64 of the 64 guards is a tougher question.
faneca was pretty bad last year, the only thing he could do well was pull ... we couldnt even run to left with success because he was that bad at the POA from a production perspective, were are better off with slausen
Well maybe the fact that Faneca is being rotated out on 3rd and longs at AZ might help convince you of what a liability he is in pass blocking. Like I said, that site isn't Elias sports or even sanctioned by the NFL. It is however, the best fan accessable ranking site for all positions and players across the NFL. If they were a lousy operation, they never could have gone to subscription only access. It's the next best thing we have to CS grading of players on a weekly basis. I have found their data to be pretty reliable. Bottom line, either you watched Faneca last year and agree or you don't. You said every informed observer said he was average? That is pretty subjective. I would say I've read a lot of negative stuff about Faneca's pass blocking. I'd say he has a pretty bad rep as a pass blocker. I have no problem at all with you or anyone else questioning things like this. It's a discussion. We all have differentiating opinions. I'm all for hearing another take on things. I often adjust or change my opinions. It's all good as long as it's civil.
Look...Every Offensive Line player gets beat...I've seen Woody get beat as much as Slauson, and Dbrick too. Slauson gets less slack because he's new. And Because the guy that beat him went in low, which I thought was verboten... Tannenbaum should have been on the phone to the League office to complain about the officiating, not his Left Guard. (Remember..there's TWO guys back there now) Go back and watch the Carolina game. All that pressure on Mark was not Matt Slauson.
That is an excellent point. Tanny knows the rules and he should be letting the league know when they are not up to par. That play could have have been much worse but it was a recipe foe disaster. All is well that ends well Sanchez did not get hurt and that is a very good thing. It would have been a shame to lose the QB before the season even started.
Just finished watching the fourth episode and I think I figured out why I am not enjoying it as much as I thought i would - the absence of any real drama - when I watched the other series (with the chiefs and the bengals) I enjoyed them more as there was more suspense and drama, with the jets one because of this site (for the most part) I already know more or less what is going on with the jets, i.e. i knew KC signed for less money, i knew how they did in the pre-season games, I knew who had been cut etc. so it was like watching a movie having already read the book - entertaining but not really thrilling.
Plus...The Jets have a little more personality than the other teams. So there's more of that and less drill down.
I'm getting more confidence in the staff and less in the players. From both what I've seen on the show and in the actual games they look to be buying their own hype a little too much. Plus Sanchez looks like he's regressing to early last year form. We can't have that, with a running game that will not be as good as it was last season - sure Tomlinson's got spunk now, but what happens the first time he gets nicked up? You can't count on Greene for 16 yet, and McKnight stinks. And while I'm not sure Slauson is that bad, it looks like Ducasse is, and really he's a project anyway. So Slauson will start by default (barring us picking up someone) and we'll find out if he's a liability or not. It's a good point to a degree BUT I didn't know the machinations behind the Coles move (debating him and T-Rich) or even the fact that the Jets planned to bring him back. Maybe I don't pay attention to the actual moves as much as most that post here though. I did know about KC taking less money to guarantee his roster spot but the show itself was still interesting because you saw how he was tormented and had to think about it.
Pro Football Focus It is now a pay site. It is not a cheap fee, either. We are talking four digits for a one year subscription if you want the player participation data which was the most valuable piece of info at that site. I never even had that site bookmarked. I thought it was okay.
It was decent, but had it's faults. Basically, they got a bunch of knowledgable homers together to study not film, but the network feeds. So, they did not know blocking assignments and whatnot, so their data was flawed, but still a good source of info. I had no idea they want that kind of cash. If it was $100 I would not buy it. They want 1000? They are dreaming, They must think they are the Elias of football. Rude awakening.
The introductory one-season rate is $90. If you desire more info than whatever is covered in that $90 package, then you must pay more. Actual words from the site- I do not understand who is going to pay $1400 for player participation data which is apparently gleaned from TV broadcasts. It's awfully hard and maybe impossible to be 100% accurate with that unless you are looking at coaching film.
Pfffff...you really think TannyWood is going to stir the pot of the NFL which gave them a SB gift to their new stadium to help sales? The same league that will make sure there is no blackout? oh...you are right..no doubt but as we heard right outta Tanny's mouth, It's about the $$$ 1st.
