How more obvious could it be that Revis will be signed by Monday (just in time to make it on next week's Hard Knocks)? All the talk about the Revis--Cowlishaw debacle, which was glossed over completely in last week's Hard Knocks, even though it could have easily been mentioned last week (Cowlishaw's tweet was on Sunday Aug.22). The clincher was Tanny referring to the signings of some members of the Jets "Core Four" at the conclusion of the episode, "...you paid Brick, you paid Mangold, you paid Revis" The use of past tense by Tanny and the obvious placement of this segment at the very end (and not ending up on the cutting room floor) is indicative of my strong educated guess that the framework of a deal is in place (especially considering the relaxed use of the "Revis" word throughout the show and that the "agreement" to not discuss Revis in the media was "overlooked" by the Jets F.O. for the first time since the blackout went into effect 3 weeks ago). Expect a deal imminently. Rex----Revis is indeed "coming home" very soon and based on Tanny's conspicuous lead-in at the episode's conclusion, we should be seeing a lot of Revis in next week's finale...G-dwilling
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (12 Days Until MNF) No, a signing bonus doesn't have to. Revis's agents were reportedly concerned by the absence of future guarantees against both injury and skill. This would be a way to free up more of that money.
I think he said "you pay ...." like an if...then kinda thing. You pay those guys and you have cheap backups
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (12 Days Until MNF) Wishful thinking.. Hope you're right but it's a stretch.
OMG Thank you!!! I can't believe how obvious it is now! When are you people gonna figure out that THIS IS NOT JERSY SHORE? They're not setting it all up for the big finale. It's a fucking documentary. You know what that is right? Like those films on the discovery channel where they show your relatives in the wild throwing feces.
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (12 Days Until MNF) Didn't Rex throw in there if he takes his original contract? Not that it means anything at all, just asking.
I DVR'ed the episode and watched that segment back 4 times. Tanny most definitely said "paid". Check it out. Tanny's commentary on the Core Four signings (and prospective Revis signing) shows that he is comfortable to tip his hand now (meaning a meeting of the minds has occurred), and this certainly makes for a possible dramatic lead-in for the HBO finale. I have a strong conviction that I am right on this
I think that might of been earlier in the episode. At the end it sounded like he was including Revis with Mangold and Brick.
Tanny definitely said "paid". - DVR'ed the episode and watched that segment back 4 times to make sure.
Look, we all want a deal done. We all want to see this thing over. But if it gets done it's gonna get done becasuse somebody bends and the season's about to start. Not because of a fucking TV show. Vincent Jackson's still holding out. What are they waiting for? To book Larry King???
This is cute. I call this article "The Day I Tried To Be a Reporter But Failed Miserably," by Rich Cimini. Gotta love sports journalism. It's the only field of journalism where failing to get a story is a story.
Is anyone else annoyed at the fact that Revis will get cheered if he shows up monday night against the ravens? His ass deserves one good boo if you ask me. Cheer for Mangold for being a real man. (and for fucks sake do not cheer jason taylor)
