Cornerbacks don't win games unless everything else is working right. When the run defense breaks down the cornerback just sits on the edge of play and watches his team lose because they can't stop the other team from moving the chains. When the other defensive backs have lapses the cornerback winds up playing tag with one guy while his team loses to balls caught elsewhere. When the pass rush is not there the overall pass defense breaks down because somebody will always get open if you give the quarterback enough time to find them.

So many other things have to happen just right before a cornerback even matters in the greater scheme of things. If a corner sucks then yes, it's a huge drag on his team, but teams like the Steelers, Colts, Giants and Saints have managed to put decent corners on the field and win that way without any problems. They pay their quarterbacks big money because the quarterback touches the ball on half the plays and that's how they win. They pay their cornerbacks like complementary players, which is how they can afford to pay the core players what they need to to win Super Bowls.

If cornerback was a core position there is no way Champ Bailey doesn't get to a Super Bowl by now. Denver's been a good team while he was there but it's had a weak core with Jake Plummer and Jay Cutler and an absence of great players up the defensive middle and so there's no Super Bowl on his resume, because he couldn't make it happen playing out on the edge of the field.

Isn't a receivers job to catch passes? If the receiver isn't catching passes, how does he retain his job? Everyones gotta do their part. The QB part is much more important than any position on the field. U can have Andre Johnson and Larry Fitz on one team, but if you are throwing with Kevin O Connel, that great talent is wasted. On the contrary, even if u have guys like Deion Branch, Brady can manage it.

Yes, but I also mentioned that "The money has to be divided accordingly". Not JUST one player. Obviously, some get paid more than others. But paying $16 mil to one guy who isn't the most important piece of the team is insane. Sanchez is more important than Revis. Yet I'd be ok if Revis made more than Sanchez, being an elite corner.

I don't think you're a troll. Just someone who has a totally different opinion about the situation.

But you're acting like Corner Backs win championships.

What does being drafted have to do with a contract. A contract is a fucking contract. Last I checked Rookies aren't forced to sign them. I mean it's not like Revis held out on his rookie contract and is pulling the same shit again. Sorry that his talent is getting "raped".

Rex Grossman got to the damn super bowl. Peyton Manning was carried to the Super bowl when they won it. he had more interceptions than touchdowns. Ben Roethlisberger's rookie year, he was carried to the super bowl. They won in spite of him.

The QB position isn't the end all be all. Just look at the Saints, two years ago Drew Brees. threw for 5,000 yards and they didn't even make the playoffs. The got Greg Williams as D coordinator and they won a super bowl. Dan Marino was a great QB, he still never won a super bowl.

The Saints were up by a full TD before the pick 6.

    So you are wrong.

That's my point. Tracy Porter is not a 16 million dollar a year player and yet he was enough to help the Saints win a Super Bowl. The MVP of that Super Bowl however was Drew Brees, who is a 16 million dollar a year player.

Two solid cornerbacks and a great quarterback has been the recipe that has won the last 5 Super Bowls. This in the age of the great quarterback.

There were three QBs that threw for more than 4500 yards that year. And had it not been for that catch by Santonio Holmes, one of those three QBs would have won. As it stood, clearly Santonio Holmes won the game for Steelers.

what about the NFC championship game. And even if they were up 6, they had to stop them to win. The QB position is consistently overvalued.

Trent Dilfer won a super bowl with the Ravens. He wasn't even close to a 16 million dollar player but was enough to help the Ravens get to the Super Bowl. So only super bowl MVPs are 16 million dollar players? because corner backs have been super bowl mvps. Many of running backs have been super bowl mvps too.

and they had top 5 running games. And good to great defenses that caused turnovers. Roethlisberger wasn't even the MVP of the super bowl. Like I said QBs require just as much help as a DB
