The Jets will only go as far as Sanchez, not Mevi$, takes them...

Lost in all the Mevi$ nonsense is that the success of the 2010 Jets rests solely on the shoulders (more importantly the arm) of Mark Sanchez.

Obviously the Jets are a better team with Mevi$ than without.
With Mevi$, the margin for error is certainly larger for Sanchez as the Jets could potentially field an all-universe defense. That being said, the Jets defense without Mevi$ won't be too bad either. Will they be the #1 defense in the leage without Mevi$? Probably not.

However if the passing offense can make the top 15 this year, coupled with a top 5 rushing offense, this team will be difficult to beat. And that all is on Mark Sanchez.

Mevi$ being on the team is not going to make the offense or more importantly Mark Sanchez any better. Paying Mevi$ $160 million (which is absurd for a CB), doesn't guarantee the Jets a Super Bowl berth. In many respects the Jets would be better to make Mevi$ sit for the year and use that money to sign Harris, Cro, Edwards and Holmes. They could then trade Mevi$, provided they find a willing suitor, and use those picks on the defensive side of the ball.

For the Jets to be successful this year, they need Sanchez to perform better, not Mevi$ on the field. Sanchez needs to put up a 60% completion rate, 3000+ yards and at worst 1/1 TD-INT ratio.

So enough talk about Mevi$, his fat-assed Uncle Sean, and those greedy SOB rat f^&K agents of his. You are all wasting your time on a ME-first player who feels it is more important to hold out than to help the team out. He certainly isn't the guy I would pay franchise money to based up his selfish behavior. As far as I am concerned he can sit and watch NFL ticket with his Uncle on the sofa because that is about as close to an NFL game he is gonna get to all year.

Instead, worry about Mark and the offense, because if the Jets are gonna reach Dallas it is gonna be because of Mark Sanchez...not because of some greedy bastard with an inflated ego and over-valued importance to the team.

Mevis is the gayest name on the planet. Did the Post come up with it? Because it sounds like the gay names they make up and dopes run with them thinking its cute.

Shift+4 every time it has to be typed? That's just sad.

Just merge this shit with the holdout thread.

you write a very persuasive thread--I totally agree on Revis--let him sit out and then move his conceited ass for some draft picks--use your money on TEAM players--the guy must have an ego second to none. Sanchez has looked like crap in preseason and is a concern--hope he can get it together.

This coming from the douche bag with the "Revis Island" avatar...

Way to inflate the ego of a guy who is quickly surpassing Mark Gastineau as the biggest a$$hole in NY Jets history.

I don't know but K-Dubs brother is on TGG and I hope he doesn't get any big ideas when his brother starts this year.

yep, because he reads my posts and gets his ego from me and me alone.

I haven't changed my avatar since the season.

I don't cange my opinion. The nickname blows and this thread can go in the holdout thread. Very simple.

Problem is, the Jets can go all the way with a dominant defense, even if Sanchez struggles massively. But if Sanchez struggles, without Revis (and now Pace as well), the D won't be that dominant where they can win a bunch of low scoring games where they rely on the run and Sanchez throws a couple of picks.

    Thanks for your opinion.

This thread was to discuss Sanchez, but I guess now everything must go back to the holdout thread because there is absolutely nothing else to talk about except for our greedy holdout CB.

I hope a mod sends you your forum police badge in the mail so you can feel better about yourself.

If Fireman Ed leads this team to a Super Bowl, I'll fucking take it.

The Jets didn't win any games like the one you are describing last season.

    Wins

    Houston (24 pts, 1 pick)
New England (16 pts, no picks)
    Tennessee (24 pts, no picks)
    Oakland (38 pts, no picks)
    Carolina (17 pts, 1 pick)
    Buffalo (19 pts, no picks)
Tampa Bay (no Sanchez but 26 pts, no picks)
    Indy (29 pts, no picks)
    Cincinnati (37 pts, no picks)
    Cincinnati (24 pts, no picks)
San Diego (17 pts, 1 pick)

If Sanchez throws more than 1 pick the Jets are probably losing, Revis or no.

I am beginning to agree with this line of thought, but there are two huge problems I have with it.

    1) I highly doubt Sanchez is going to be playing at a high enough level this season to bring us to the promised land without a great defense. That really puts a damper on my hopes for the 2010 Jets.
    2) I really believe that with Revis we have a chance to be an all time great defense. It would really be a shame if we missed out on the opportunity to see that.

Going forward though, (in addition to signing the guys you mentioned) if we could get a couple of first round picks or a first and two 2nds for Revis we could quickly rebuild the front 7 on defense with young high quality talent. There will almost certainly be a rookie cap in place with the next CBA, so the first round picks will be much easier to swallow than they are now.

At some point you have to make a decision as to how much trouble the benefit you're getting from something is really worth. Paying King Revi$ his ransom would be bad for this team long term. Even if he agreed to the 120/10, you can't help but wonder when he's going to make demands and hold out again. He is obviously more concerned with himself and money than anything else - which I can't blame him for, I'm selfish myself. Keep in mind that he WILL be rooting against the Jets if he holds out into the regular season, hoping they lose so he can collect. How much is a guy like that really worth to a team?

That pretty much sums up my feelings as well. What's funny is Revis had me fooled. Thought he was a stand up, team first type of guy. Now as each day goes by i think the chances we see him in a jet uniform again get slimmer and slimmer.
